Whether it’s the Great Fairies, the Wind Fish, or Zelda herself, magic is a big part of the adventure in anyZeldagame. Here are the ten strongest magic users in theZeldaseries.
10The Three Goddesses
Din, Nayru, Farore
The Three Goddesses Din, Nayru, and Farore - also known as the Great Fairies - have wielded a variety of powers both within the games of the franchise and its background lore. These three girls are powerful figures, wielding spells and more primeval kinds of magic to all kinds of amazing effects throughout theZeldaseries.
Each Goddess embodies a portion of the Triforce, and they lend their magic to powerful spells such as Din’s Fire or Farore’s Wind.
9Hylia
Hyrule’s Protector
After the three Golden Goddesses Din, Nayru, and Farore created the world and the Triforce, it was given to the Goddess Hylia to protect. Hylia took her job very seriously, and was even the ancestor of Hyrule’s Royal Family.
Responsible for the creation of the Cloud Barrier to protect the Sky, Hylia has at times even reincarnated into her descendent, Princess Zelda, to more closely look after the world.
8Queen Sonia
The (Second) First Queen of Hyrule
Once a powerful priestess, Queen Sonia appeared inTears of the Kingdomas the founding Queen of Hyrule - although it’s suggested Hyrule wasfounded and destroyed at least oncebefore this. But Queen Sonia is a powerful user of magic, with power over time itself.
Queen Sonia has a strong command of the divine magic present in theZeldauniverse, an ability which she passed along through the generations to her descendent, Princess Zelda.
7Vaati
Master of the Winds
Vaati is a powerful demon sorcerer who, much like Ganondorf, has appeared in a variety of different forms throughout the Zelda games. Originally an ordinary Minish, Vaati found a Magic Hat which granted him powers and a changed form.
Despite only having a Magic Hat, Vaati was a powerful sorcerer with a real talent and ambition for magic. He even managed to absorb Princess Zelda’s magic and used it to become master of the winds.
6Twinrova
Kotake and Koume
A pair of twin Gerudo witches, Twinrova are known as the Sorceresses of Ice and Flame due to their powerful elemental magic. As well as their powerful elemental magic, the sisters Kotake and Koume use dark magic to extend their life spans to rule over the Gerudo tribe secretly.
In some appearances, the Twinrova sisters are not evil, notably helping Link in Majora’s Mask by selling him potions, while in others they serve as antagonists. But whenever they do appear, they’re powerful magic users with a great command over magic and its power.
5Impa
Woman of Many Jobs
Although seen as a little old woman inmost of her appearances, Impa is a powerful magic user with many impressive achievements to her name in the realm of magic. Impa has appeared variously as Princess Zelda’s nursemaid, a member of the magically powerful Sages, and even as a priestess.
Impa’s magical abilities are wide and varied. She’s been seen travelling through time, protecting locations with powerful barriers, and sealing powerful creatures away.
4Link
The Ultimate Hero
Although Link is most well known for histrusty sword and shield, he does occasionally wield magical powers throughout theLegend of Zeldafranchise - and he wields them very well.
Capable of marshalling strong magical abilities from time to time, Link has used light arrows and other magical weapons - but has also used magical powers such as electrokinesis while transformed into a Zora during Majora’s Mask. Although it’s not his primary skill, Link is still one of the strongest magic users in theLegend of Zeldafranchise.
3Princess Zelda
The People’s Princess
Princess Zelda is one of the strongest magic users in the entireLegend of Zeldafranchise. With far too many magical achievements to her name to list, Princess Zelda has used a wide variety of magic spells and abilities to save Hyrule from certain destruction.
Zelda has used Light Arrows, the magic of the Triforce, and other magic to achieve a variety of goals throughout the franchise. Princess Zelda even became a Sage, and has used the Ocarina of Time to travel through time.Zelda is a true masterof magic.
2King Rauru
Last of the Zonai
King Rauru, an ancient ancestor of Princess Zelda, was the last Zonai. As a member of the powerful Zonai race, King Rauru possessed extremely powerful magical abilities typical of his race.
Rauru used his powers to wipe out a huge swarm of Molduga attacking Hyrule Castle, and later was able to seal the Demon King beneath Hyrule Castle, even though it cost him his life to do so. King Rauru is easily one of the most capable magic users in theZeldagames.
1Ganondorf
The Darkest Evil
The major antagonist of theZeldaseries, Ganondorf is one of its strongest magic users.Ganon comes in many forms, from the more humanoid Ganondorf forms to the dark horror - possibly his strongest incarnation - that is Calamity Ganon, Ganondorf is easily one of Hyrule’s scariest magic users.
Many of theZeldagames are essentially a quest to defeat Ganon, a man famed for his use of dark magic to terrorize the royal family of Hyrule and its citizens. With appearances inSkyward Sword, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild,and many more, Ganondorf wields his powerful magic time and time again to frustrate Link in his attempt to rule the world.
