Atomfallwas revealed during the June 2024 Xbox Games Showcaseas a new IP forSniper Elitedevelopers, Rebellion Developments. Atomfallwill be launching sometime in March 2025 and will appear on theXbox Game Passsubscription service on day one, with a new trailer shown during the 2024 Gamescom event. The specific date of release hasn’t yet been unveiled, but fans are eager to learn more before the end of the year.Atomfallcombines folk horror elements with British sci-fi reminiscent ofDoctor Who, and is set during an age of rapidly growing paranoia. Rather than taking place in one large open world, the title will see players exploring a series of interconnected maps.
Atomfall Launching Day One On Xbox Game Pass In March 2025
The trailer begins with a focus on Windscale, the nuclear power plant that melted down in 1957. Now a quarantine area, players will find themselves on the wrong side of the quarantine wall five years after the accident. Searching for a reason why the meltdown occurred, players will venture into the wilds to solve the mystery. Various cults have taken over destroyed buildings, and players will find plenty of traders to buy goods from and secrets to discover.Survival basicslike looting, scavenging, and combat are highlighted as main features ofAtomfall’sgameplay.
A set of exclusive items forAtomfallis shown at the end of the video,available by purchasing theAtomfallSurvival Pack for $113.99. Eight different items are featured, including a postcard, a prize ribbon, a telephone box statue, a lunchbox, three skill patches, a coin, coasters, and a poster. The exclusive pack also includes the Cosmetic Metal Detector Skin. Preorders are open until October 11, though it should be mentioned that the pack doesn’t include the game itself.
A 20-minute hands-on demo ofAtomfallis available forGamescom 2024in-person attendees, so there’s sure to be more information about the game’s base building, combat, crafting, and character creation coming as the event continues. The details of the demo weren’t described in the trailer or its accompanying video text.
