Summary
Have you ever wondered whyIsekai Manhwa characters make such bad decisions? While going through a great fantasy story of people traveling to another world, we often find parts where, where characters make awful decisions, and that has dire consequences for the plot.
These are the dumbest Isekai MC decisions ranked: From the foolish idea of thinking that repeating past life mistakes will throw better results this time to the utterly infamous and cliché decision of antagonizing everyone in the new world just because.
6Arthur (The Beginning After The End)
Repeating His Past Life’s Mistakes And Thinking This Time Will Be Different
Arthur Leywin from TBATE has the record of some of the worst decisions taken in a row, and among them, there’s one that particularly irks readers. As King Grey in his previous lifebefore being transported to another world, Arthur chose to lead a solitary life and trust only his strength above all else. And despite having great character development and theoretically learning the lesson that union makes strength, he went ahead and did it again.
In the Dicathian War Arc, Arthur insists on going solo despite constantly regretting being lonely his whole life and endangers everyone by forcing them to fight a war alone. Repeating past life mistakes, trying to convince himself that there will be a different outcome this time, can be considered as the dumbest decision this character has ever made.
5Monster (I Became An Evolving Space Monster)
Allowing A Person With Information On How To Kill Him To Escape
After being reborn in the world of a Sci-Fi simulation game, our protagonistrealizes he has become a xenomorph alien, and starts to massacre the crew of the Research Ship where he finds himself in order to evolve. But little does he know that some of the crew members (especially the Captain) have their agenda, namely: smuggling dangerous data to one of the biggest corporations in the Galaxy.
After the Monster devoured half a crew, the pirate contacts of the captain invaded the vessel, and while he was distracted “collecting genetic samples” to evolve, the captain of the Research Vessel boarded an escape pod and fled, which will prove to be a tremendously stupid mistake later: Since he took all the footage and battle data about The Monster for safekeeping, and probably will devise a strategy to fight him in the future. Readers should be aware that this manhwa contains scenes of gore and graphic violence, and apparently, of dumbness as well.
4Han Hari (The Knight King Who Returned With A God)
Being Tremendously Oblivious, Getting Scammed By Her Companions
When the envoy of the Justice Gods, King Leon Dragonia Leonhart descends upon Earth, the Korean government is the first to make contact with him through the Korean Awakener Association, and they have no better idea than to send the absent-minded Han Hari to deal with the issue.
The young officer of the Korean association has no better idea than to offer herself as a volunteer to play the mascot (literally wears a lion costume all the time) of the Pantheon guild, knowing that this will tarnish her reputation. Lately, another bad decision she makes is to entrust all her retirement funds to Sir Spinner (a killer Robot turned Knight) who is obviously creating a Ponzi scheme to divert all the funds into weapon research for the guild. All points out to herbeing the most clueless character in the manhwa.
3Park Sooho (The Druid From Seoul Station)
Allowing His Mortal Enemy To Escape Out Of Pure Arrogance
Park Sooho was sent tolive for a thousand years in an unnamed world, where wild animals roamed the lands and he gained strength compared to that of the king of all beasts. When returning to Earth, precisely to his homeland Korea, he quickly gains fame and reputation among the Awakeners as an “irregular” which is a person whose ability is hard to measure using the usual means.
After creating his own organization (The Guardian Guild) he is quickly challenged by the Japanese top one awakened, Hiro, who is secretly a person who has turned time back to take advantage of all his knowledge of the future to gain fame and power. Hiro saw Sooho as a threat, and tried to eliminate him in a 1v1 official duel, but failed to do so, revealing his true self: A Half Demon. But then, the dumbest thing happens, Park Sooho allows this dangerous awakened monster to flee, knowing all too well he will return to bite him in the rear. Risking all life on Earth since he knows he is corrupted and will try to take vengeance on the society that knows who he truly is now. Readers will have a hard time trying to figure out the reason behind the MC letting this villain live.
2Baek Yu-Seol (Magic Academy’s Genius Blinker)
This story is about a Korean gamer reincarnating in his favorite game, Magic Academy World, where he plays the role of Baek Yu-Seol, the worst possible character to pick, with the highest level of difficulty. But since the MC is so OP and knows the game all too well, he is capable of drawing the full potential of Yu-Seol to the highest levels. And even knowing the plot and everything that happens, he makes the dumbest decision around the second arc.
Knowing that one of the Main Characters named Flame is another reincarnated person, he left her unchecked as he went through the main plot. His decision to let her be instead of revealing he is also a reincarnated person and working together with her, will cause Flame to consider him an obstacle, and attempt to take his life. At the end of the Alchemy Exam arc, we can see Flame plotting with another student, Hae Wonryang, who asks her if she is bothered by something. She answers she is bothered by Baek Yu-Seol, which will surely lead to a whole lot of trouble. More so since we can see she is clearly plotting to “remove him” since she thinks Baek Yu-Seol will prove to be an obstacle to her plans. You know what they say: keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
1Park Byung-Jang Reincarnation Of The Veteran Soldier
Making Enemies Every Time He Opens His Mouth
Park Byung-Jang not only proved to be a subpar and lazy member of the Reservist Corps, but a lousy reincarnator as well. He dies during a training drill, and if readers think this is the dumbest thing this MC will ever do, then they’re up for a wild ride. Not even a second after being taken in by a Goddess to be reincarnated, he outright insults her and refuses to work as a savior, ultimately leading to the divine being becoming angered and tossing him to a dangerous land unprepared. All he has is his military training, a shovel, and, of course, lots of plot armor to protect himself from an untimely death.
Somehow he manages to survive and attracts the attention of the deity’s worshipers, who quickly consider him “a devil” since he basically goes running around insulting the Goddess. Afterward, he keeps making the dumbest decisions like antagonizing every human being he encounters, to later barely survive by sheer force of luck. It is hard to understand how this person manages to survive while making the worst possible choices at every step of his journey. He even went as far as to join an organization to openly oppose the main religion of the world, knowing that he opposed a being that was capable of destroying him completely in a matter of seconds. His arrogance will soon be his downfall, since he barely has the wits to keep going with the flow.
