Summary
The future ofAEW Fight Foreveris in doubt with the fear of season passes seem to be winding down. WWE’s main wrestling competitor was the first American wrestling promotion to release a major console video game since TNA in the mid-2000s and WCW in the late 1990s before that. Unfortunately, the mixed reviews led to the game being disappointing compared to expectations.
AEW’s project of releasing DLC season passes for purchase was the blueprint to keep the game going. Names like Swerve Strickland, Toni Storm, and Samoa Joe getting added to the game didn’t spark enough excitement. However,AEW Fight Foreveris risking a terrible mistake if it doesn’t try at least one more season pass with a trio of relevant names.
Why Fans Think AEW Fight Forever Is Ending Season Passes
AEW Fight Foreverinvested in the idea of season passes due to wrestlers joining the company on the fly. New talents to join after the game’s development stages, like Adam Copeland, Toni Storm, Claudio Castagnoli, and the Hardy Boyz, were added to the game in various packs. Four unique downloadable packs allowed AEW to keep hyping up seasons of new wrestlers and other bonuses each season.
Unfortunately, alack of growth forAEW Fight Forevermay see AEW completely phasing out season passes. A recent package deal was announced for fans to purchase all four seasons at a reduced price. Fans took such a move as a sign that AEW is no longer planning to add anything more to the game and celebrating the end of all season packs.
Adam Copeland
Season 4
The promotion wanted to improve the roster byadding familiar names like Copeland aka Edgeand newly pushed top stars to mirror that in the video game. Many bonuses come from hiring a legend, and fan interest in playing a video game with said wrestlers is one. Strickland and Storm becoming top champions gave AEW more reason to add those talents to the roster.
Other names joining the promotion see theFight Forevertopic as one of the early talking points. AEW potentially stopping the season passes means it will be unlikely to see any new talent unless the promotion changes course or works on afuture game similar to annualWWE 2Kgames.
AEW Missing Opportunity To Add Major Stars To Fight Forever
AEW might have picked the worst possible time to stop adding new characters to theFight Foreverroster. The formula for the season passes has often featured two male wrestlers and one female wrestler, along with bonuseslike AEW arena venues or mini-game modes. AEW fans expected the massive 2024 free agent signings to enter the video game in a future downloadable pack.
Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, and Mercedes Mone are a dream trio that could have injected more life into the game in a future season pass. Mone is among the biggest female stars in wrestling historyafter a WWE tenure as Sasha Banksand an acting role on Disney’s hit series,The Mandalorian. AEW adding her would make Mone easily the biggest international name on the game’s women’s roster.

Ospreay is currently AEW’s hottest new babyface who gets the audience behind him in his incredible matches. The athletic ability sees Ospreay’s moveset similar to a video game character in real life to make him a great fit forFight Forever. Okada was the top wrestling star in Japan for years and has international appeal. AEW being the first American promotion to design an official Okada character into a video game would be noteworthy.
All three of these wrestlers would likely crack the top ten most popular AEW wrestlers on the entire roster. The rumor of theAEW Fight Foreverseason passes ending would close the dooron such star power joining a video game purchased by die-hard fans.AEW Fight Foreverwill be dropping the ball by not having one more season pass.
