How to Defeat Basic Furnace Golems in Shadow of the Erdtree
Furnace Golems may look intimidating at first, but once you figure out the simple method of taking them down, you’ll go through them in no time. Follow these steps todefeat the six basic Furnace Golems:
Ruins of Unte Furnace Golem:
This Furnace Golem is found blocking the entrance to the Ruins of Unte. At first, it will look like just another inactive golem, scattered among the others. However, when you throw a Hefty Furnace Pot into the head-basket, you’ll cause the golem to come to life. Once it is up, the fight is like any other basic golem fight. To learn the recipe for Hefty Furnace Pots, get the Greater Potentate’s Cookbook 2 from the Run-Down Traveler’s Rest, under the Ellac Greatbridge in Gravesite Plains.
Make sure to keep an eye on the golem’s feet after the large AOE attack. It will often perform multiple AOE attacks in quick succession, so make sure the coast is clear before attacking.
How to Defeat Both Armored Furnace Golems
When you reach theArmored Furnace Golemsto the east of the Cathedral of Manus Metyr, and Charo’s Hidden Grave, you’ll notice their feet are protected by a large piece of armor. You won’t be able to do much damage the usual way, but if you pay attention as you exit the small tunnel that leads to the golem near Manus Metyr, you’ll see a note on the ground that gives you a hint at how to defeat it. Simply put, you’ll need to throwHefty Fire Potsinto the Furnace Golem’s head-basket.
There are two things you’ll need to get this done:Hefty Cracked Pots, and the Great Potentate’s Cookbook 1. The pots are found throughout the world, and you’ll likely collect several as you explore. The cookbook is found in the Scorched Ruins, on a dead body that is on the lower levels and easy to find.
Once you have several Hefty Fire Pots, you’ll want to use the Spiritspring that leads to the high-ground right next to the Furnace Golem. From the top, you’ll want to throw the Hefty Furnace Pots into the basket. It will take approximately 5 direct hits with the pots to defeat the golem. You will not be able to simply stand and throw, however, as the Furnace Golem will erupt with an explosion of flame projectiles that will track you. You’ll have to make your way up and down from the high-ground as you escape the flames, getting in shots with the Hefty Fire Pots whenever you can.
Charo’s Hidden Grave Furnace Golem:
This golem fight is essentially the exact same as the previous armored Furnace Golem. You’ll find a Spiritspring that leads you to the high ground, giving you the perfect location to throw Hefty Fire Pots into the basket.
