Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreebrought many new spirit ashes to help players in their journey through the Shadow Realm. The game already featured many powerful summons like Black Knife Tiche and Mimic Tear, but if you have grown bored of using the same summons, the DLC has some pretty strong spirit ashes for you to use.
TheShadow of the Erdtreeexpansion has added 20 spirit ashes. These new summons vary from typical enemies found in the Lands of Shadow, likeSpider Scorpion AshesorGravebird Ashes, to powerful named characters likeFire Knight Queelignand Ancient Dragon Florissax. Out of all the new summons, the following three are of legendary rarity:

How to Get Taylew The Golem Smith
While exploring the lands of Shadow, you will find hidden ruined forges home to golem smiths. These are some of the tankiest enemies in the game, but they have a weak spot on their back. As enemies cannot target weak spots nor take critical hits, tanky summons likeTaylew the Golem Smithcan come in quite handy.
To get the Taylew the Golem Smith summon, you will have to visit Taylew’s Ruined Forge located at the base of Ancient Rauh Ruins. You can find this dungeon by going north from the Ancient Ruins Base site of grace. Like all ruined forges, you will have to search for a furnace usually located at the end of the dungeon and interact with it to receive the reward. In the case ofTaylew’s Ruined Forge, the reward is a legendary summon called Taylew the Golem Smith.
Taylew the Golem Smith is the tankiest summon in theElden RingDLC and can help you distract mighty bosses likePromised Consort Radahn, Radagon, and more. With the new Heal from Afar incantation, you can also safely heal your summons to help them survive longer during battles.
How to Get Divine Bird Warrior Ornis
Divine Bird Warrior Ornis is one of the strongest summons in theElden RingDLC because of his ability to fly and his powerful moveset. This spirit ash gets bonus points for its description, as it describes Ornis as the first to be granted the power to wield feathers and wings. All other horned warriors you will find in the Lands of Shadow are his descendants.
You don’t have to fight any boss to get the Divine Bird Warrior Ornis spirit ashes. To get it, you will have to first go to theTemple Town Ruinsat the base of Ancient Ruins of Rauh. From Temple Town Ruins, head north to find a spiritspring jump past a few Kindreds of Rot. Take this spiritspring jump to get to the roof of a ruined building in the south. You can then use Torrent to jump onto the ledge east of the building. From there, follow the path uphill to find a building with a chest. Open this chest to find theDivine Bird Warrior Ornis.
How to Get Ancient Dragon Florissax
Ancient Dragon Florissax is probably the hardest spirit ash to get in theElden RingDLC. To get Ancient Dragon Florissax, you will have to reach the alternative ending of the Dragon Communion Priestess questline. Before you start progressing her questline, you will have to deliver Black Syrup fromMooretoThiollierand get Thiollier’s Concoction.
After you have receivedThiollier’s Concoction, use it on the Dragon Communion Priestess at night while she’s trying to communicate with Placidusax. This will put her to sleep and break her ties with the Dragonlord. Next, you will have to beat Bayle The Dread and talk to her again to get the Dragonbolt of Florissax incantation.
After receiving the incantation, talk to the Priestess and tell her the truth about putting her to sleep. Continue talking to her, and she will request you to become her new lord. Accepting her request will reward you with theAncient Dragon Florissaxsummon. However, going through this ending will lock you out of getting theFlowerstone Gavelweapon and Priestess Heart, an item that lets you transform into a humanoid Ancient Dragon.
How to Level Up Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring
After collecting any spirit ashes, the first priority should be to level them up. At the base level, most summons can barely survive or take hits from powerful enemies. To make sure they actually prove to be helpful, you will have to level them up using Grave Gloveworts and Ghost Gloveworts.
You can upgrade spirit ashes after progressing through Roderika’s questline. She will turn into a spirit tuner and sit next to Smithing Master Hewg in the Roundtable Hold. You can interact with her to upgrade your spirit ashes using Grave and Ghost Gloveworts. If you have collected allGrave and Ghost Gloveworts bell bearings, you can give them to Twin Maiden Husks for an infinite supply of both Gloveworts [1-9]. To max out a spirit summon, you will need a Great Ghost Glovewort or Great Grave Glovewort, which are rare, with limited items available, only a few per playthrough.
