Quests inGhost of Tsushimacome in three different flavors. Jin’s Journey Tales are the equivalent of main mission quests; Tales of Tsushima/Iki are side quests; and Mythic Tales are special quests that unlock powerful armor, new weapons, and special abilities for Jin.
There are nine Mythic Tales in Ghost of Tsushima, including the Iki Island DLC, each one offering players unique rewards not obtainable in any other way. Here are all their locations.
Rewards
Izuhara (Act 1)
Talk to Yamato, the musician, in Hiyoshi Springs, the main settlement in Hiyoshi, directly south of Castle Kaneda. He will tell players about the cursed bow of Uchitsune and its likely resting place.
Talk to Yamato at the River Falls Bridge, northeast of Komatsu Forge. He will be standing just under the bridge on the river bank. This tale involves putting a stop to a murderous warrior using the legendary Shigenori’s Heavenly Strike to wreak havoc.
Talk to Yamato on the road just south of the Rustling Bend, east of Kishi Village. He will tell players a legend about the incredible feats Tadayori managed to achieve with his incredible armor.
Toyotama (Act 2)
Talk to Yamato in Akashima Village, just after entering Toyotama during Act 2. He will tell players about an armor possessed by a Samurai’s spirit, hidden in six different parts in different farmsteads. Jin will need to liberate the six farmsteads from the Mongols to get the keys and obtain the armor.
Talk to Yamato outside the Ruins of Old Yarikawa near the Yarikawa Stronghold. He will tell players about a deadly spirit native to the region who has been delivering vengeance in exchange for offerings at various Shrines. Finding this spirit will require tracking down these offerings and investigating further.
Talk to Yamato in Umugi Cove at the southwestern edge of the Toyotama region to learn about Kojiro, an ex-Straw Hat Ronin who has recently issued a challenge to Jin. To face him, players will first need to defeat his five lieutenants.
It’s possible to start the duels against the five Straw Hats before talking to Yamato or triggering the Six Blades of Kojiro Mythic Tale. Doing so will count towards quest progress.
Iki Island (Act 2)
Talk to Kashira in Fune’s Refuge after completing ‘A Raider’s Return’ quest. He will tell players about the legendary pirate Black Hand Riku and his armor blessed by monkeys that never lets him tire.
Talk to the residents of Sheltered Campsite in Zasho Bay to hear the story about the lost horse armor of Kazumasa Sakai, Jin’s own father. Recovering the horse armor will allow Jin to unlock new skins for his mount.
Kamiagata (Act 3)
Talk to Yamato on the road directly north of the Jogaku Temple, west of Mount Jogaku, to hear about the curious way Mongol elite soldiers are able to light their swords on fire.
