In order to craft a Pile of Cash, a player needs to sacrifice three stacks of 99,000 bells each, for a total of nearly 300,000 bells, which is roughly the amount the player had saved up. The Pile of Cash item typically sells for half the amount it takes to build it, so even with it being the Hot Item of the day, a player would normally only break even on selling it under normal circumstances. However, this player had another trick up their sleeve.
Player Makes a Fortune in Animal Crossing: New Horizons Thanks to Lucky Hot Item
In addition to the lucky Hot Item money doubling bonus, the player had also enacted theNew HorizonsBell Boom ordinance. Players are able to make a few in-game laws with Isabelle at the Resident Services Building to alter the island’s rules, and the Bell Boom ordinance raises the buying and selling price of every item in the game by 20 percent. Since the Pile of Cash is a DIY craftable item that requires fewer bells than that to make, the player simply went about crafting more and more Piles of Cash, selling them to the Nooks, and repeating the process until they had amassed 15 million bells and fully paid off their in-game home before calling it quits.
The player even questioned the Reddit community to see if their actions would be considered cheating, though the consensus seems to be that the player isn’t a cheater; they’re just extremely lucky. Some people seem pretty envious, as the only other way to make bells that quickly is through getting lucky with turnip prices in theNew Horizonsstalk market.
