Summary
There is seeminglyno limit to the kinds of anime merchandisethat are available in Japan, and just when you think you have seen everything, a company will surprise you with something else newer, and weirder. Sometimes, things are even useful. This particular unique anime product is definitely not something you would expect to find, especially connected to an anime, and it is indeed something not only fun, but useful, too. It is typing software that is based on the popular animeJujutsu Kaisen.
You read that right; it is a software program that teaches you how to type. By gamifying the process of typing usingJujutsu Kaisen, this software teaches the player how to type in multiple languages, and a few other computer skills as well. The software is calledJujutsu Kaisen Typing Jutsuda, and was first announced on the officialJujutsu KaisenX (formerlyTwitter) page last fall.
Love Anime, Learn a Skill
Who Says Anime is Just a Waste of Time?
Typing is arguably one of the most useful skills that anyone can have in today’s world, as it is used not only for most jobs but also for daily life. Being able to type quickly and accurately is a highly coveted skill that many people have to practise and study in order to accomplish. Most people learn throughpractise and repetition, while some use normal typing software to help them. Who knew that there was a better, much more fun alternative out there, not only for children, but for adults, too?
That is whereJujutsu Kaisen Typing Jutsudacomes in.AnimeNewsNetworktranslated the details of the base game as follows:
“…users can banish spirits with their typing skills in a “battle stage.” There are six different battle stages included in the program, and each has voice dialogue from the anime. On top of this, those who are new to typing will get a tutorial from the character Satoru Gojo with original dialogue.”
By making studying into a game, it helps motivate people to keep trying and makes learning a lot more fun than it would be otherwise. Plus,Jujutsu Kaisenfans cansee their favorite charactersin a totally new way, and experience original dialogue they would otherwise never get the chance to hear.
TheJujutsu Kaisenteaches the user how to type in kanji using a standard Japanese keyboard, which is a really important skill for anyone living and working in Japan to have. Not only that, it can also teach the userhow to read kanji, using more than 2,500 different characters from the Japanese Kanji aptitude tests. The skills you can learn fromJujutsu Kaisen Typing Jutsudadon’t end there, though. It also teaches how to type English words based onBasic Genius English-Japanese Dictionary Second Edition.
Finally,Jujutsu Kaisen Typing Jutsudaalso has a very basic programming tutorial. This part of the software is clearly aimed at children, being based on a manual from Japanese elementary and junior high schools called “IchigoJam Basic.” However, that doesn’t mean that adults cannot also use it to learn programming, especially if they have no prior knowledge of it.
Is the Jujutsu Kaisen Typing Software Legit?
It Sounds Too Weird to be True
Jujutsu Kaisen Typing Jutsudais made by a Japanese software company called Rio, and was also endorsed by the anime’s official Twitter page. It is definitely legitimate software, and is available for sale right now. It can be used on Windows 10 and 11 as well as macOS 10.15, 11, 12, and 13. The software costs 4,752 yen ($31 USD) for the digital copy, and 5,258 yen ($34 USD) for the physical copy, which also comes with a microfiber cleaning cloth with the anime’s leading characters on it.
Of course, it is important to note thatJujutsu Kaisen Typing Jutsudais entirely in Japanese other than the English typing lessons. Even then, the words to type are the only thing in English, and they are only basic words, so not that useful for native speakers. However, for someone who isstudying kanji and especially trying to learnhow to type it, or someone who just wants to enjoyJujutsu Kaiseneven if they do not fully understand what is going on,Jujutsu Kaisen Typing Jutsudais a unique purchase.
Unfortunately, Rio’s official website does not have any information about whether it can be shipped overseas. However, it is currently available for order in Japan, so anyone who is living there can order it now. If you are located overseas, it is best to consider a shopping service if you want to learn to type (or do programming) withJujutsu Kaisen!
