In the most recent post on its official site that gave early insight into some updates forApex LegendsSeason 22, EA has revealed a new mechanic called “Battle Sense.” The feature is meant to go live with the Season 22 update and will allow players to see enemy health bars temporarily while dealing damage to the enemies and maintaining line of sight. Not only that, but they will also be highlighted in red to make it easier to spot them against the landscape and differentiate them from squadmates.
Apex Legends Fans Frustrated With Developers Once Again
Fans immediately took to social media to complain about this upcoming feature. Most are pointing out the immediate downsides to “Battle Sense,” where one of thecoreApex Legendstacticsof bluffing enemies into retreating will now no longer work, and Revenant’s passive of seeing low-health enemies is now obsolete.
On the other hand, others are diving even deeper into the motives Respawn may have had when designing this mechanic. Fans say that the mechanic of highlighting enemies and showing their health bar could massively lower theskill ceiling ofApex Legends, which players argue has no place in Battle Royale. The remaining fans are giving Respawn the benefit of the doubt, waiting to see how the changes will affect the game once implemented.
This all comes shortly after an interview where theGame Director forApex Legendsacknowledged cheatingas one of the deeper issues in the game, after the Battle Pass changes fiasco. There, he stated that the game belongs to the community first and foremost, which should give hope to players that the “Battle Sense” feature will improve the game, or be retconned if the community rejects it outright upon implementation.
