The title entered early access on August 13, giving the public an opportunity to freely try out what some view as a potential rival to Battlestate Games’ popularEscape from Tarkov. Unlike the title it is often compared with,Arena Breakout: Infiniteis set to receive console versions, but it has been revealed that people will be unable to play with folks on different platforms.
Arena Breakout: Infinitewill not support cross-platform play between consoles and PC, according to a recent post made by the game’s official Twitter account. In a poll that had around 12,000 respondents, more than 48% of people voted against the feature being included inArena Breakout: Infinite, while close to 47% supported its integration. Many community members suggested a straightforward compromise: make cross-platform play optional in theupcoming free-to-play game. Others claimed that cross-platform play inArena Breakout: Infinitewould only be acceptable if players had no access to aim-assist.
Will Arena Breakout: Infinite Have Cross-Play?
In addition to providing a release window and announcing a console launch, theArena Breakout: Infiniteteam also confirmed a new map, female characters, and an AI teammate system at Gamescom 2024. The latter, dubbed FACUL, or First Ever AI Companion Who Understands Human Language, is marketed as the world’s first voice-command FPS AI. According to a trailer for the system, FACUL allowsArena Breakout: Infiniteplayers to provide complex tactical instructions to NPC companions through the use of advanced generativeAI technology in the gamelike voice input, large language models, real-time speech synthesis, and environmental recognition.
There were plenty of other revelations at Gamescom 2024, includingMafia: The Old Country, a new entry in theMafiafranchise, andFloatopia, an upcoming NetEasegame that has seriousAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsvibes. Additional trailers for Capcom’sMonster Hunter Wilds, Funcom’sDune: Awakening, and Warhorse Studios’Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2were unveiled at the event as well.
