The funny clip was posted to Reddit by user Junior-Carpenter-853, taking place near the beginning of theirBaldur’s Gate 3Honour Moderun. After escaping the Nautiloid, players can encounter Shadowheart, who is initially distrustful of the player. The wrong dialogue choices can lead to a combat encounter with the popular companion, and that’s exactly what happens to Junior-Carpenter-853. In this instance, it’s a battle they lose, ending their Honour Mode run in a pretty heartbreaking way. Luckily for them, this encounter happens pretty early on in the game, so it’s not too painful a reset, if they choose to do so.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Honour Mode Player Killed by Shadowheart

Larian holds up Honour Mode as the hardest challengeBaldur’s Gate 3has to offer. One minor slip-up can kill an Honour Mode run in an instant, and while players can still continue their saves, they’ll no longer be able to earn the achievement for beating it like this. It saves automatically too, so there are no cheat resets here. It’s no surprise that since its release, there have been plenty of crazy ways gamers have lost their Honour Mode runs. One gamer even managed tolose theirBaldur’s Gate 3Honour Mode run to a painting, and frankly, it’s difficult to imagine a more heartbreaking way for it to happen.

WithLarian recently revealing why it decided not to make Baldur’s Gate 4, fans' hopes of the studio staying on despite its previous statements are dead in the water. Wizards of the Coast now has the tough task of replacing the developer, with any sequel almost certainly compared toBaldur’s Gate 3. As for Larian itself - the studio has two RPGs in the works at the moment, and it’ll be exciting to see what it can do without the constraints of theDungeons and Dragonsruleset and fantasy setting.
