Player Mistakes
Back to All Characters
As theGenshin Impactstoryline progresses into the Natlan region with the 5.0 update, players are introduced to an exciting new set of characters from this fiery locale, adding fresh dynamics to their adventure. In the first patch of Natlan, characters like Kachina, Mualani, and Kinich make their debut, with Kachina standing out as the only 4-star character in this update. Fortunately, players can obtain Kachina for free by completing the Archon quest, offering them the opportunity to explore the new region with the unique abilities she brings. However, obtaining her constellations will require wishing on Mualani’s banner during the first version update.
Given this, players might be curious whether it’s worth investing in Kachina’s constellations inGenshin Impact. As a 4-star character, Kachina’sconstellations are generally more accessible, requiring fewer resources to unlock compared to 5-star limited characters, barring significant bad luck. Additionally, her constellations can be acquired gradually over time, making it less urgent to max them out immediately. However, before making any decisions, here’s what players need to consider about whether to prioritize Kachina’s constellations or take a more measured approach.
Are Kachina Constellations Worth It In Genshin Impact?
Kachina has the potential tobe a standout 4-star unit, particularly in team compositions that can capitalize on her role as an effective off-field sub-DPS. Her constellations primarily enhance her own damage output while offering minimal team buffs, making them more of an extension of her existing kit rather than a transformative upgrade. The most significant aspect of Kachina’s utility comes from her best-in-slot artifact, Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, which can provide up to a 40% Elemental DMG Bonus under specific conditions.
Given this, Kachina’s constellations are relatively low on the priority list, even compared to other 4-star characters. The exception is her C6, which significantly boosts her damage output, making it the most valuable constellation for players looking to maximize her potential. However, unless players are aiming to fully optimize Kachina for their teams, investing heavily in her constellations may not be necessary, especially if they have no interest in pulling for Mualani.
C1 - Shards Are Gems Too
Effect
When Kachina mounts or dismounts Turbo Twirly, she will absorb nearby Elemental Shards created by Crystallize.
Additionally, when a party member picks up such a Shard, 3 Energy will be restored to Kachina. Energy can be restored this way once every 5s.
Importance
Medium
Kachina’s first constellation grants her additional Energy, making it easier to activate her Elemental Burst more frequently. However, this isn’t a critical upgrade. Kachina’s Elemental Burst, while useful, doesn’t carry as much weight as her Elemental Skill. Moreover, given the Burst’s long duration and cooldown, proper team rotations should allow her to maintain the Burst’s effects consistently without needing the extra Energy from her first constellation. Therefore, while helpful, this constellation isn’t a must-have for most players.
C2 - Never Leave Home Without… Turbo Twirly
When Kachina uses “Time to Get Serious!”, she will regain 20 Nightsoul points. If there is no Turbo Twirly belonging to her on the field, she will enter Nightsoul’s Blessing and summon one.
Kachina’s second constellation, like her first, appears promising at first glance, as it can improve the uptime of Turbo Twirly on-field. However, much like the first constellation, with proper rotations, maintaining Turbo Twirly’s effects shouldn’t pose much difficulty. For players who prefer more flexibility in combat and don’t want to rely strictly on precise rotations, this constellation offers a nice comfort boost, allowing for easier management of Kachina’s abilities in various situations.
C4 - More Foes, More Caution
When there are 1/2/3/4 (or more) opponents within the Turbo Drill Field created by “Time to Get Serious!”, the active character within the field gains 8%/12%/16%/20% increased DEF.
Low
Kachina’s fourth constellation is the only one that offers a team-wide buff, but its usefulness is limited to specific team compositions. The DEF boost primarily benefits teamsfeaturing characters like Ittoor Noelle. However, this buff isn’t particularly substantial, especially when compared to the much more impactful Elemental DMG bonus provided by Kachina’s best-in-slot artifact set. As a result, this constellation is generally less critical and can be skipped by most players unless they are running DEF-focused teams.
C6 - This Time, I’ve Gotta Win
When your active character’s shield is replaced or destroyed for any reason, Kachina will deal 200% of her DEF as AoE Geo DMG. This effect can be triggered once every 5s.
Priority
Kachina’s final constellation is undoubtedly her strongest, offering the most substantialboost to her DPS potentialand Geo application. This constellation significantly enhances her sub-DPS capabilities, especially if players can consistently generate different types of shields. With this upgrade, Kachina becomes a more viable option for sub-DPS roles, providing a more resource-friendlyGeo alternative to characters like Albedo or Chiori. Nevertheless, it is not a mandatory to be able to run Kachina effectively, since it is mostly a DPS boost rather than a significant utility.
