Summary
With itsLovecraftian horror theme, and mixture of survival gameplay and story-driven questing,Once Humanis a game that melds several genres into a unified whole that just simply works. Gameplay takes place across a 6-phase, 7-week season, with a reset between each season.
SMGs are seen by many players as neither fish nor foul. They lack the range of an assault rifle, and the damage of aShotgun, sitting somewhere between the two. However, for close-in gunplay against multiple enemies, a good SMG can be lethal. An SMG can also be a good secondary weapon instead of using apistol as a sidearminOnce Human.
The MPS5 - Blue Tiger is the easiest of the rare or better SMGs to unlock when playingOnce Human. Only the unluckiest players won’t pick up enough blueprint fragments to unlock this SMG within their first 10 to 20 hours of play.
The SMG works off the bounce mechanic, which means a bullet can potentially bounce from one part of a target to another, causing additional damage. Overall, this is a decent little SMG that is a real workhorse until a player gains access to a better one inOnce Human.
The MPS7 - Div-Evo SMG makes a good alternative to theKAMrange ofAssault Riflesfor players who want to put together a shrapnel build fairly early in the game. The blueprint fragments can be logged in the Chalk Peak region, which the player gains access to around level 20 so that they cancraft this gun.
Shrapnel is an interesting mechanic that can significantly boost damage when used properly. When shrapnel is triggered, a round splits into smaller fragments and hits other parts of an enemy.
Frost vortex is one of the less common builds thatOnce Humanplayers use simply because it is not well understood. The key mechanic here is that every frost vortex triggered reloads some amount of ammo to the weapon. If built with a high crit rate, the player will never need to reload this SMG.
The nice thing about the Icy Rain SMG is that every player can get a copy of the blueprint by following the main story arc, as it is given as a reward for the “Murmurs in the Forest” quest.
The power surge is one of the better combat builds inOnce Human, or at least it is simpler to understand than others. When power surge is triggered, the enemy hit is stunned for a short time, and they take an amount of electric shock damage.
MPS7 - Outer Space is a workable alternative to theSOCR Outsiderassault rifle if a player is lucky enough to unlock this blueprint early on in the game. The Wish Machine can be pretty random unless a player is willing to spendStarchromto buy out a blueprint full stop.
The MPS5 - Kumawink is a worthy upgrade over the MPS5 - Blue Tiger, although the fact that the blueprint has to come from the Wish Machine means that a player will have to be somewhat lucky to unlock this upgrade early on inOnce Human.
That being said, the increased damage of this legendary SMG is significant over the aforementioned rare one. This is especially true once the weapon has beencalibrated up to rank 10. Overall, for a bounce build, this is a great choice of primary weapon.
Many players ofOnce Humansee an unstable bomber build as being the best. There can be no doubt that this build can dish out very high damage, but it is also complex to pull off. It takes practice to time the unstable bomber attacks safely.
However, KV-SBR - Little Jaws is an excellent choice as a primary weapon for an unstable bomber build inOnce Human, with its baby brother, theDE.50 - Jawspistol, one of the bestweapons in the game, being carried as a sidearm. But as with all legendary weapons inOnce Human, acquiring the blueprint is impacted by the RNG of the Wish Machine.
