When first introduced inBlack Clover,Noelle Silva, a noblewoman from the Clover Kingdom, may seem like anarrogant royal from the Noble Realm. However, behind this bravado and facade was a hardworking teen that has yet to find confidence in herself.
However, when Asta emerges in her life, one who is called a low-born and has zero magic power, his determination to prove others wrong and make a name for himself inspires Noelle to never give up. This is how Noelle found her strength and resolve in Asta.
What Noelle first thought of Asta
Noelle’s Facade Of A Noblewoman Breaks After Asta Saves Her
Noelle Silva is a noblewoman and the second daughter in the House Silva in the Clover Kingdom. As she is from a prominent family, she also has immense magic abilities andcan control Water Magic. However, unlike her siblings, who are part of the Silver Eagle squad, Noelle, from a young age, cannot control her magic powers. From early on inBlack Clover,it is clear that Noelle has incredible magic abilities, although her lack of control is her downfall. However, like Asta, Noelle is determined to prove her family wrong and show she is worthy of being part of House Silva.
When Noelle first meets Asta, she showcases the classism of a noblewoman residing in the Noble Realm. While Asta is shocked at meeting a royal, he treats her no differently from any other person. However, that night, Asta sees Noelle working hard to control her Water Magic abilities when he witnesses her magic go out of control. This is when, with thehelp of Captain Yami, Asta saves her with his Anti-Magic abilities.
However, instead of insulting or making fun of her, Asta praises Noelle for her incredible magic power and encourages her to train hard to control her magic. With Asta’s opening line, the rest of the Black Bulls welcome Noelle with open arms, showing her that she won’t be discriminated against or made fun of because of her abilities. In essence, while Noelle didn’t think much of Asta and thought him to be like everyone else, he was the opening act that allowed her to flourish and become more confident in herself.
How Asta gave Noelle her courage
Asta is the Teammate That Inspires Noelle
True to Asta’s personality, he is always cheerful and goal-oriented. While Asta does have a hyperactive personality and can be annoying, he always encourages others to do their best. While Captain Yami was the first person to invite her into the Black Bulls and allow her to prove herself, Asta gave her the final push.
After being saved by Asta, Noelle soon began to open up to the other members of the Black Bulls, learning to disregard her previous classism. At any given moment, when Asta is not on a mission, he is constantly training and trying to better himself. This often encourages Noelle because Asta’s enthusiasm can be infectious, as it stems from a genuine need to improve himself to others around him.
There’s no mistake that Noelle also had a determination to better herself. However,Asta is also the driving force that encouragesher to do her best. Asta consistently works hard to better himself due tohis lack of magic power; as a result, he has to work harder than everyone else. Given his hardships, this inspires Noelle, who comes from royalty and is blessed with incredible magic power. However, this also makes her strive to better herself, not wanting to fall back on her training and longing to fight alongside Asta as his equal.
How Noelle feels about Asta
Noelle Can No Longer Ignore Her True Feelings
At the start of the series, Noelle doesn’t have feelings for Asta. Initially, she sees him as a low-born peasant due to her noble status. However, after facing her lack of control and needing to be saved by Asta, Noelle soon learns to tolerate him and often calls him an idiot without much malice behind her words.
At this point, Noelle is in denial of her feelings for Asta, often becoming flustered or embarrassed in certain situations. Unfortunately for Noelle, Asta is oblivious to the feelings of the women around him, as he still has a crush on Sister Lily. However, in Chapter 301, Noelle finally admits to herself that she is, in fact, in love with Asta during the final battle with Megicula.
While Noelle may have finally admitted to herself that she is in love with Asta, she has yet to act on her feelings. After the one-year and three-month time skip,Noelle, Mimosa, and Secrewitness Asta confessing and proposing to Sister Lily for the final time. Although Noelle may have admitted her feelings to herself, Asta is soon carted off to the faraway Hino country for training, and no one knows whether he is still alive. However, due to her faith in Asta, Noelle believes he is still alive and once again is determined to become stronger so that he can return when he is ready.
Noelle Strengthens Her Resolve
Asta May Be The Catalyst, But Noelle Put in All the Hard Work
Noelle finds her strength in Asta. Asta has given her confidence in two ways. In Chapter 300, Noelle admits that she is scared and afraid ofthe fight with Megicula; however, Asta has given her the strength to believe in herself and never give up. This is because he always gets back up to prove others wrong, no matter what is thrown at him.
That’s what Asta taught me!!
The second method is for Noelle to think about Asta, giving her the strength to keep getting back up even when times are tough. This does not discredit Noelle’s hard work and determination. Noelle has always sought to better herself and gain the confidence and respect she deserves from her family. However, Asta was merely the catalyst that allowed her to find the strength to work harder and surpass her limits.
In her pursuit of power, despite despairing that Asta might be dead, Noelle obtains a familiar Leviathan that increases her power. This clearly shows that Asta is Noelle’s source of motivation. However, Noelle was able to get this far because of her own strength and determination; Asta was merely the catalyst that allowed her to give her best.
