Who is Megicula?
The Devil Who Caused the House of Silva & Many Others Grief
Megicula is one of the main antagonists during theSpade Kingdom Raid arc. She became one of the Supreme Devils in the Underworld, taking this position only after Astaroth disappeared. Megicula also took over the Tree of Qliphoth position after Astaroth disappeared. All Devils are placed into a hierarchy at birth and thus given a ranking; the higher your ranking, the lower you are in the Tree of Qliphoth.
Like many other Devils, Megicula sought a way to enter the human world. She then entered a contract with Vanica Zogratis, and has been living inside her, borrowing herpower to the Devil Host. Megicula had possessed Vanica about 17 years ago after Noelle Silva was born. Vanica had been hunting for a worthy opponent to use her new powers on and sought out Acier Silva for battle. Megicula and Vanica placed a Curse-Warding Magic on Acier during this battle so Megicula could manifest into the world once Acier had died one year later.
This magic, the Evil Goddess’s Curse, requires a painstaking amount of time and resources. This curse requires Megicula to search and locate the souls of three same-sex mages who possess powerful magic. The first person Megicula chose was Acier Silva, a royal from the Clover Kingdom and Noelle’s mother. With Acier’s soul, Megicula could half-manifest through Vanica’s body.
Then finally, I will be able to fully manifest within this land.
Thesecond person is Vanica Zogratisherself, a prodigious Devil Host who can form a contract with one of the Supreme Devils, Megicula itself. In Chapter 298, Megicula admits Vanica is close to death due to the battle with Noelle, and thus, Megicula was able to manifest from her body. The final soul Megicula needed to manifest within the human world was the soul of Lolopechka. Lolopechka is the princess and ruler of the Heart Kingdom; she also has a contract with the spirit of water, Undine. Once Vanica and Lolopechka die, Megicula can manifest in the human world fully. However, Noelle and her brother, Nozel, were able to put a stop to her plan and defeat her.
What is Megicula’s Magic Power?
Megicula Has a Well-Rounded Power That Could Allow Her to Manifest in the Human World
Megicula has Curse-warding magic. As a result, she can place andcreate powerful curses on others. This magic power is not only used against attack spells, but it can also weaken spells. Additionally, Megicula can also use her curse spells to cover herself in healing and recovery magic. She can also place secondary curses on her enemies. We see this in Chapter 300 when Megicula turns Lolopechka into a Devil and uses an additional curse called Exploding Life, which was intended to kill her.
In Chapter 303, Nozel also mentions the secondary effect of the Curse-Warding magic placed on Acier Silva. The reason no one knew of Megicula was because if Nozel told anyone Megicula had a hand in the death of Acier Silva, those who knew of this curse would die. Additionally, anyone who hears of this curse will die, as it will spread like a disease.
Megicula also had the ability to use the magic power of the souls she had in her possession, the souls of Vanica and Acier Silva. Vanica has the Blood Magic ability, allowing her to manipulate her blood. Additionally, Vanica can control other humans and animals, but only after using her magic on them. As for Acier Silva, she could manipulate Steel magic; as a result, her abilities are similar to Noelle’s. Megicula, with these two magic powers, could create living corpses of blood and steel.
What is the Tree of Qliphoth?
The Channel That Connects the Human World to the Underworld
The Tree of Qliphoth is a magic channel that connects the human world to the Underworld. To create this channel and open the connection between the two realism aretwo Arcane stage mages, one with Dark Magic and the other with World Tree Magic. The individuals targeted for this process wereYami Sukehiroand William Vangeance, who would serve as the core of the ritual as sacrifices. In Chapter 246 and Episode 164, we learn the true goal of the Dark Triad: to open the Tree of Qliphoth and allow the human world to crawl with Devils.
The previous overseer of this channel was a Supreme Devil, and one of the three rulers of the Underworld called Astaroth. However, he mysteriously disappeared until, in Chapter 333, we learn thatLucius Zogratis formed a contract with him, allowing Astaroth to live inside him as he is a Devil Host. After Astaroth’s disappearance, Megicula soon took over this role.
The Underworld consists of seven levels; as you descend each level, the more powerful the Devil within said level will become. The Dark Triad planned to use the Advent of Qliphoth ritual to open the channel. However, the seven gates will not open all at once but gradually. This ritual will require the two mages mentioned above and will take seven days to complete, after which the mages will die; however, the ritual is halted when the Dark Triad is defeated.
