Summary

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6will feature a significantly revamped Gunsmith UI with a lot more vertical design that aims to be more informative. That’s according to some newly leaked screenshots that are said to depict aBlack Ops 6development build.

Call of Duty2024 details have been leaking onlinelong before Activision officially announced the AAA shooter in late May. The most recent source of one such info dump is Twitter user BetterThanAlaix, whose online moniker appears to be a reference to long-timeCall of Dutyleaker HeyImAlaix. On August 3, BetterThanAlaix shared a wide variety of screenshots that they said originated from a development build of theBlack Ops 6PS4 version.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Will Seemingly Feature a More Vertical UI

Oneset of these leaked imagesdepicted a number of the game’s menus, which appear to be slightly different from theirModern Warfare 3counterparts. Specifically,Black Ops 6streaks and loadout menus will seemingly be much more vertical compared to the 2023 game. The upcoming shooter’s Gunsmith UI also lists attachments vertically rather than presenting them in a horizontal line, which results in a more helpful and information-dense interface.

While it’s possible this leaked UI is merely a placeholder, Treyarch did previously suggest it’s looking to make the game’s interface more akin to menus from olderCall of Duty: Black Opsentries. This helpful revamp would be consistent with that ambition, especially since the new Gunsmith UI appears to be reminiscent of the first and thirdBlack Opsgames.

The vast majority of BetterThanAlaix’s images have been removed from Twitter less than an hour after going live due to a series of copyright infringement claims by Activision. The move adds to the leak’s legitimacy, not least because the publisher likely wouldn’t have bothered with cracking down on fake screenshots. That notwithstanding, the recently shared images do not perfectly match onewidely promulgatedBlack Ops 6leakfrom late May 2024, which indicated that the upcoming game might have a fairly similar UI toModern Warfare 3. BetterThanAlaix’s screenshots suggest that the previously leaked menu might have been a placeholder.

Aside from showcasing the new Gunsmith interface, the newly surfaced images alsorevealed the names of nineCall of Duty: Black Ops 6maps, ranging from Babylon and Derelict to Gala and Skyline. That list is almost certainly incomplete, though there’s also no guarantee that every single one of the name-dropped maps will actually be incorporated into the finished product.Black Ops 6is scheduled to reach PC and the latest two PlayStation and Xbox console generations on October 25. More official information about the 2024Call of Dutyentry is expected to follow in the coming weeks.
