Black Ops 6 Taking Note of a Forgotten Black Ops 4 Zombies Feature

Making Solo Play Feel More Team-Based

Through the years, theCall of Dutyfranchise has tried out new features in hopes that they will stick and become ongoing fixtures of the gameplay. Zombies is a great example of this. What was once probably just thought of as a fun in-game mode by developers quickly turned into a feature that is expected with every new entry.Black Ops 6’s Zombies is teasing some big moments, but bringing bots back in solo games needs to return sooner rather than later.

A Diamond in the Rough

Black Ops 4’s solo bots were an ambitious idea, but they definitely were not perfect. Frankly, the AI for these bots was pretty clunky, but it was a great idea that has yet to get its moment to be properly refined.Black Ops 6is making some bold changes to multiplayer and Zombies, and although multiplayer is great, sometimes playing solo is preferred. Through the years, the multiplayer community forCall of Dutyhas been the franchise’s bread and butter. Even if a campaign is lackluster, likeModern Warfare 3’s, there are still plenty of opportunities to have fun in multiplayer matches.

However, this can also feel neglecting to the portion of the player base who prefer to play solo, andBlack Ops 4’s AI bots helped solve that issue, at least a little bit. There are a lot ofmysteries surrounding Terminusthat many players are eager to discover that solo players will want to experience as well. Of course, players can always play with random people, but that doesn’t always go according to plan. Sometimes, it feels awkward entering a match with strangers, especially if they are all friends and one player happens to be the odd one out.

Black Ops 4’s AI Bots Deserves to Get a Makeover

The AI bots were merely an attempt at a fascinating concept, and as the boundaries of game development become more expanded, having more intelligent bots in a Zombies match is definitely not out of the realm of possibility.Halo Infiniteactually does this quite well, so there is definitelypotential forBlack Ops 6to pull this off, too.

IfBlack Ops 6can really refine the AI for these bots, solo runs at Zombies could be far more satisfying for single players. There are plenty of gamers who enjoy playing as part of a team without the real-life social aspect of playing with others in multiplayer. AsBlack Ops 6continues to change theCall of Dutyformula, only time will tell ifBlack Ops 4’s AI bots get another chance.
