Summary
The Zombies mode was never planned to be in 2008’sCall of Duty: World at War, but after some passionate devs at Treyarch spent some late nights creating a prototype, they somehow managed to convince their higher-ups it should be in the final cut. Now, Zombies is one of the biggest strengths of the entireCall of Dutyfranchise, continuing to build its legacy with each new entry, and remaining a staple of the co-op shooter genre 16 years after its debut. That’s quite the legacy forCall of Duty: Black Ops 6to live up to.
Fortunately forCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, the last few iterations of the series' beloved Zombies mode haven’t been met with the best reviews from fans or critics. There’s an opportunity now forBlack Ops 6to learn from those past mistakes and deliver aCall of Duty: Zombiesexperience that fans have wanted for years, though expectations are very high this time around.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies Feature Wish List
Rewarding Easter Eggs
The first thing atop many fans' wish lists forCall of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Zombies modeis a return to the series' more rewarding approach to Easter eggs. Present in the mode pretty much from the get-go,Call of Duty: Zombies' Easter eggs really hit their stride inCall of Duty: Black Opsand its sequel, with Easter eggs like Moon’s explosive ending, Call of the Dead’s fun dialogue, and Origins' epic WW2 quest all being fan-favorites.
These iconic Easter eggs all moved theCall of Duty: Zombiesnarrativeforward in a significant way while giving players some kind of gameplay benefit, rewarding them for their efforts in two distinct ways.Call of Duty: Black Ops 6needs to verify it delivers Easter eggs that tick both of these boxes, presenting players with an evolving story while rewarding them with some unique Wonder Weapons or special abilities.
Varied Map Layouts
The last few iterations ofCall of Duty: Zombieshave tried to deliver the biggest maps in series history, and the results have been pretty mixed. While many fans loveCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies Outbreak mode, many were also disappointed by the lack of engaging, traditional round-based maps in the game. It’s important thatCall of Duty: Black Ops 6has a wide variety of different map types, both from a design and visual standpoint.
New Wonder Weapons and Perks
Perhaps the most obvious entry on this wish list, new Wonder Weaponsand Perks are a must forCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, and they’re probably the easiest item on this list to achieve. The tricky part, however, is making sure that these new Wonder Weapons and Perks are actually worthwhile additions, and not just features that fans will forget about after their first use.
A New Zombies Chronicles Collection
It’s an exceptionally tall order, but it would be amazing to eventually see a new Zombies Chronicles collection come toCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, likely as a post-launch DLC.Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s Zombies Chronicles DLCadded eight remastered maps fromCoD: Zombies' past, and it’d be great to seeBlack Ops 6get a similar collection, this time remastering maps like Buried, Call of the Dead, and Mob of the Dead.
