Activision Is Drastically Reducing Call of Duty’s File Size

Update 1.049 doesn’t have a confirmed release date just yet, but both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users can look forward to a drastic reduction in file size. While the current-gen console will see over 100 GB of space return to their hard drives, PlayStation 4 users will also see the game’s size reduced from 82.730 GB to 67.600 GB, freeing up a little over 15 GB of space. The next entry in theCall of Dutyseries is still a few months away, but fans were recently given their best look yet as massive leaks forBlack Ops 6occurred over the weekend. From new multiplayer maps and UI changes to abrand-newWarzonemap, the leaks revealed plenty of new information about Treyarch Studios' nextBlack Opsgame.

Given the sheer amount of content that is released forCall of Dutywith each new update, it’s unlikely that the game’s file size will remain under the 100 GB threshold, especially for those who want all aspects of the series installed, such as multiplayer,Warzone, Zombies, and the game’s campaign. But the likely temporary drastic decrease in file size on the PlayStation 5 is certainly welcome.
