Summary
Colossal Order has releasedCities: SkylinesUpdate 1.1.5f to upgrade the building rework mechanic, improve overall performance, and introduce several changes to the Economy menu used to control a city’s expenses. This latest update largely aims to refine the Economy panel and fine-tune the game’s realism while also providing a more well-roundedCities: Skylinesexperience.
Cities: Skylinesis a city-building simulator in which players are in charge of building an entire society from scratch. It’s the player’s responsibility to decide where roads will be located, how much to charge citizens in taxes, and how public transport will operate. Players are also tasked with managing the city’s budget, healthcare, employment system, and pollution.Cities: Skylineswas conceived following Colossal Order’s work on the previousCities in Motionseries, which utilized a similar conceptbut with a focus on transportation. The aim of the game is to meet certain population tiers in order to unlock new improvements, such as the establishment of schools, fire stations, tax offices, and waste collection.
Some of the changes introduced in Update 1.1.5f (also known as Economy 2.0) concernthe process of applying mods. Now, mod details will show what dependencies are installed and which are missing. Additionally, an issue was fixed that caused the game to crash if too many mods were installed in a certain way. Many additional fixes seek to eliminate other instances of sudden crashes inCities: Skylines, such as when the quick load function is used to relocate and rotate a building, or after deleting a train station with a broken subway connection and trying to place new subway tracks.
Further updates focus on the Economy panel by adding City Service changes, such as adults being able to apply to high school if they haven’t already finished, wages for city service employees being paid from player income, and buildings now paying a fixed fee for garbage collection instead of a number decided by the amount of garbage collected. Minor alterations to Demand, Employment, Households & Happiness, Production and Company, Rent and Building factors will also affect resource consumption, individual household needs, andwealth and happiness levels.
This latest update also addresses some minimal issues such as building effects not rendering correctly in the UI, the Economy budget panel overlapping text in some languages, commercial companies accidentally exporting goods to other companies, and other less pressing fixes. Players might still experience issues with older saves ofCities: Skylines, but Colossal Order has assured that it has made changes to avoid these instances in the future. Some concerns revolve around medical clinics not immediately refilling their pharmaceutical storage, the water budget being reset to the default 100% value, and existing savesexperiencing a death waveif the population consists of mostly senior citizens.
