Star Wars: Bounty Hunter Remaster Debuts With Xbox-Only Launch Discount
Aspyr announced aStar Wars: Bounty Hunterremasterback in late June, with that re-release now reaching PC and consoles on August 1. Specifically, the game is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC. While the 2002 original used to retail for $49.99, its remaster is priced at $19.99 across all platforms, thus offering decent value for money with its 10-plus hour campaign. Owners of Microsoft’s consoles can currently even pick up the game at a 10% launch discount, which brings its price down to $17.99. It is currently unclear how long this Xbox-only promotion will last.
Aside from upgraded visuals and revised controls, thismodernized version ofStar Wars: Bounty Hunteralso features a new Boba Fett skin. Its inclusion expands on an Easter egg from the original game that tricked players into believing they could unlock Boba Fett as a playable character if they fulfilled certain criteria. Two decades later, that will finally become true, with the unique skin being awarded to anyone who beats the campaign.
Aspyr’s remaster debuted to a decent critical response, as underlined by its67 aggregate score on OpenCritic. Its early player impressions appear to be even better, with the game currently boasting “Very Positive” reviews on Steam, based on nearly 100 ratings. While a select few players did complain about some minor technical issues, the game is said to be running fairly well. Its overall level of polish represents a much-needed win for Aspyr, who recently ended up under a lot of fan scrutiny following thedisastrous launch ofStar Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, which was mired in all sorts of technical issues.
Looking at the contents of the game’s day-one user reviews, the number one complaint among PC gamers appears to be the inability to rebind controls. While Asypr recommends players to experience theStar Wars: Bounty Hunterremaster with a controller, physical gamepads also appear to be stuck to a single control scheme, forcing those who want to tweak the game’s keybindings to do so via third-party software.
