As the name implies, the most vital component of a hero shooter is its heroes. Any good hero shooter needs to ensure that its roster features a wide variety of visual designs and ability sets, anda great hero shooterneeds to ensure that these designs and abilities bring something new and exciting to the genre. With 16 playable Freegunners currently on its roster,Concordcertainly offers a wide variety of playstyles, but its crew of scoundrels isn’t perfect.

WhileConcord’s throwback Sci-Fi aesthetic certainly sets it apart from the competition, many of its character models feel a little too generic, and a good portion of the game’s abilities don’t feel too unique. This leads toConcord’s roster feeling a tad imbalanced, with some of its Freegunners being a blast to play, and some feeling like a bit of a chore.

S-Tier: The Best Freegunners in Concord

By farthe best Freegunners inConcord, Roka, Teo, IT-Z, and 1-OFF all offer satisfying abilities, a powerful primary weapon, and, at the very least, an interesting visual design. Roka’s jetpack and rocket launcher combo make her an incredibly deadly threat in all maps and game modes. Teo may be the most simplistic Freegunner in the game, but he’s also one of the most effective, with his assault rifle packing a mean punch and his grenades offering both great offensive and defensive capabilities.

IT-Z might be the most visually interesting character inConcord, and her teleportation and cloning abilities are easily some of the most distinct on the roster.Concordonly has a few tanksright now, and 1-OFF is arguably the most efficient. His vacuum and pressure blaster combo is a unique primary weapon and deceptively hard-hitting.

WithConcordbeing a live-service game, fans can expect these rankings to change frequently with every new balancing update and patch.

A-Tier: Some of Concord’s Most Efficient Freegunners

These five Freegunners are arguably just as useful as those in the tier above, but their abilities do have some slight limitations that can stop them from being efficient in all scenarios. Daw acts asConcord’s primary support hero, with his dome shield and healing pads being able to turn the tide of battle. But Daw’s healing pads aren’t perfect, requiring teammates to wait in one area for lengthy durations, which isn’t too efficient inConcord’s faster-paced game modes.

Star Child is a good tank, with a powerful shotgun and charge ability, but his larger stature does make him an easy target, and unlike 1-OFF, he doesn’t have too many defensive abilities to help him avoid taking damage. Haymar can wreak havoc on larger groups with her explosive fiery crossbow, but her longer reload time can land her in trouble quickly.

Lennox’s revolver and pistol are good primary weapons, and the ability to instantly reload them can be lethal in a skilled player’s hands, but his explosive knife isn’t all that useful. And finally, DaVeers' grenade launcher is one ofthe most powerful weapons inConcordright now, but her Burnite Canister ability can be a tad temperamental.

B-Tier: Useful, But Limited Freegunners

These four Freegunners have their uses on the battlefield, but some significant limitations might turn fans away from choosing them. The only otherhealer inConcordright now, Jabali’s healing orb ability is fine, and his damage orb is surprisingly powerful, but his primary weapon is very weak. Vale’s sniper can be brutal in the right hands, but her skill ceiling is quite high.

Kyps is essentiallyConcord’s version ofOverwatch’s Sombra, being able to go invisible and sneak behind enemy lines. But her stealth duration is very limited and her pistol is quite weak, making her a disappointing hit-and-run character.

Lark’s visual design is fairly unique, but their abilities are difficult to use efficiently, at least whenstarting out inConcord. Lark’s Spore Seeds can be thrown down to buff teammates and hinder opponents within its area of effect, which can be a big asset to the team. However, this ability does require the player to have pre-existing knowledge of the map, so they can place the Spore Seeds in the most effective areas. The same is true for Lark’s teleportation ability, which requires knowledge of the map and has a lengthy wind-up animation in which the player is vulnerable.

C-Tier: The Least Efficient Freegunners in Concord Right Now

Though they’re not inherently bad, these three Freegunners are probably the least useful inConcord’s launch build. Duchess' wall rarely comes in handy, often hindering teammates just as much as the opposing team, and her Ruinous Blast AoE attack doesn’t do a ton of damage and can be avoided easily.

Bazz’s throwing knives are a distinct and fun primary weapon, but they take a lot of skill to use and don’t do nearly as much damage as they should. Bazz’s Scourge Star ability is also quite tricky to land.

Emari is possibly theworst tank inConcordat launch, with her armor ability rarely coming into play in fast-paced matches, and her shield doing little to protect the team or herself for very long. Emari’s movement speed is also absurdly slow.
