There are many aspects that makeCyberpunk 2077such a compelling dystopian sci-fi story. CD Projekt Red is known for its insanely detailed worlds, andCyberpunk 2077is a perfect example of how much effort the developer puts into world-building. Not only is the game’s setting of Night City filled with fascinating content, but a player’s actions can affect the overall ending of the story.
Multiple endings are nothing new to the world of video games, but the various endings toCyberpunk 2077can be drastically different. Last year’sPhantom LibertyDLC only made the ending options even more diverse, providing players with a variety of compelling outcomes. Despite the many mainline endings that exist, a secret ending can be uncovered throughthe quest Chippin' In. AsCyberpunk 2077’s sequel, Project Orion, begins development, the follow-up would benefit from doubling down on these types of quests.
Project Orion Taking Note of Chippin' In
A Game-Changing Quest
Throughout V’s journey inCyberpunk 2077, the choices players make for the character are important to how the game’s story unfolds, butProject Orion can go even furtherwith this concept. Just asPhantom Liberty’s choices offered drastically different outcomes, the Chippin' In quest in the base game can bring some fun differences to The Sun ending.
Chippin' In is a side quest players can embark on with Johnny, and depending on which dialogue options players choose, the secret ending can be unlocked or remain unavailable. If a player makes the right decisions, a further side job will become available called Blistering Love. If players fail to unlock Blistering Love, they won’t be able to build a stronger relationship with Johnny, ultimately barring them from getting the secret ending. The importance of choices inCyberpunk 2077is apparent throughout the game, but Project Orion would only benefit from more end-game-changing quests like Chippin' In.
Early rumors about Project Orion have suggested the sequel could feature multiplayer.
Raising the stakes with a player’sactions and decisions in Project Orioncould be the key to making the sequel stand apart from its predecessor.Cyberpunk 2077definitely wasn’t a perfect game at launch, by any means, but it has miraculously evolved into one of the strongest RPGs around. That leaves Project Orion with a really high bar to reach, and if the sequel wants to be even more successful, it has to exceed the standard that has been set. Taking note of Chippin' In and having serious consequences take place throughout the game, not just the ending, could make every playthrough something special. Nearly every playthrough could be a new experience for players, but it wouldn’t be easy to pull off.
Project Orion Taking the Time to Blow Cyberpunk 2077 Out of the Water
Unfortunately, Project Orion probably isn’t arriving anytime soon. There are plenty of waysProject Orion can improve uponCyberpunk 2077’s best concepts, and Chippin' In is a great source of inspiration. DespiteCyberpunk 2077’s now-successful state, there are some aspects and features that still feel like they are merely scratching the surface. The emphasis on player decisions inCyberpunk 2077is already complex, and it would be thrilling to see how much further CD Projekt Red could take this.
There is plenty of speculation about Project Orion, and only time will tell which direction the developer will go in. What is most important, though, is that CD Projekt Red is given enough time tomake sure Project Orion is in working orderbefore launching it to the public. With there already being a lot of hype surrounding Project Orion, it is important to remember that developing games of this caliber takes an incredibly long time, especially if CD Projekt Red is aiming even higher with its anticipated sequel.
