Dead by Daylighthas revealed details about the upcoming collaboration withCastlevania. AsDead by Daylightcollaborates with other horror game franchises such asResident EvilandSilent Hill, among others, it also continues to explore genres that would not necessarily classify as scary, macabre, or downright frightening. The most recent video game icon to make it into the game was Lara Croft fromTomb Raider.
Such is also the case with the recently announcedCastlevaniaDLC forDead by Daylight. While not exactly pure horror, the franchise uses familiar characters and creatures such as Dracula, Werewolves, Death, and many more. This is why many fans were excited regarding which assets would make it toDead by Daylight. The rich lore afforded byCastlevaniameant that the possibilities were endless, although early speculations believed that the main boss Dracula would play a part.
According toDead by Daylight’s website, theCastlevaniacollaboration will include both Dracula as a Killer and Trevor Belmont as a Survivor. Early rumors already hinted atCastlevania’s Draculamaking it into the game, but this was still unconfirmed before. The confirmation of Trevor Belmont’s appearance may be a surprise, especially since the more familiar Simon and Richter Belmont were the ones that fans were looking forward to. Some fans have noted that the characters' looks are heavily taken and seem to be inspired by their appearance inCastlevania: Curse of Darkness, hence why the more famous Belmonts were not included in this collaboration.
Perks Included With Dracula and Simon Belmont
While the Public Test Build for theCastlevaniaDLC is already out, the website subtly teases what abilities Dracula will have in the game. Dracula will have the power to transform into either a Bat or a Wolf, with varying skills as well. Those who have played the PTB have mentioned that the Bat plays quite similarly toDead by Daylight’s The Spirit, being able to track Survivors stealthily without being able to attack. The Wolf is closer to The Oni’s style, tracking characters with a Scent Orb that grants a special attack once a certain amount is collected. Lastly, the main form allows use of Dracula’s signature flame pillars as an extra attack.
Both characters introduce three perks each. Dracula has Dominance, a hex perk called Wretched Fate, and Human Greed, while Trevor Belmont has the Eyes of Belmont, Exultation, and Moment of Glory. While it is too early to tell whether these perks will rank amongDead by Daylight’s best perks, the descriptions alone sound interesting as they faithfully capture theCastlevaniavibe. TheCastlevaniaDLC will go live in-game on August 27.
