To cap off the month of August,Dead By Daylightreleased Patch 8.2.0, which kicked off theCastlevaniacrossover and brought in Dracula, the Dark Lord, and Trevor Belmont as the Killer and the Survivor for this update. The newDead by Daylightpatch arrived after a brief public test build period, which also included some adjustments for Killers.
The collaboration withCastlevaniais the second crossover thatDead by Daylightdeveloper Behaviour Interactive has done with Konami since June 2020. In their first team-up,Dead By Daylightand Konami released aSilent Hillcrossover for the asymmetrical horror game, which included the iconic Pyramid Head as the Executioner Killer, andSilent Hill 3protagonist Cheryl Mason as the Survivor. Four years later, theCastlevaniacrossover was first revealed in August 2024, with Behaviour Interactive teasing players via cryptic hints on social media, as speculation about Dracula’s arrival stirred in response.
Following abrief stint as a public test build, the latestDead By Daylightpatch has gone live on all supported platforms.According to Behavior Interactive’s blog post, Patch 8.2.0 introduced two representatives from theCastlevaniaseries as a Killer and a Survivor, with the iconic vampire Dracula taking the role of the former. Known in-game as The Dark Lord, Dracula uses his signature Shapeshifting powers as his primary method of stalking Survivors. In his default Vampire Form, Dracula can unleash Flaming Pillars in a straight line that can go through obstacles. Dracula’s Wolf Form allows the Dark Lord to track the scent of Survivors, while switching to Bat Form grants Dracula stealth and improved mobility at the cost of rendering Survivors invisible.
As for the chosen Survivor of theDead By DaylightandCastlevaniacrossover,Trevor Belmont has some perksthat can turn the tide of a match. His Exultation perk can upgrade a held item after stunning a Killer with a Pallet, which can give skilled players a way to upgrade their kits at the right moment. Plus, outfits based on Simon Belmont and Alucard are available for Trevor to use for some visual flair.
Dead By Daylightalso confirmed that moreCastlevaniacosmetics will arrive on September 12, which include new outfits inspired by Maria Renard and Sypha Belnades. With morecrossovers such asFive Nights at Freddy’swaiting in the wings,Dead By Daylightfans will have plenty of content to consume.
