It’s been over a year since theDead Spaceremake was released in early 2023 and new content for the survival horror franchise already seems to be hitting a drought. Despite rumors, EA Motive confirmed that they haven’t begun production on aDead Space 2remake, causing fans to worry that the remake may be years away or may never be made at all.
Still, new ancillary content forDead Spacehas been released since the remake, such as the most recent crossover withBattlefield 2042. While fans continue to hope for potentialDead Space 2and evenDead Space 3remakes, newDead Spacecontent may be stuck to crossovers for the foreseeable future.
Dead Spaceand its primary protagonist, Isaac Clarke, have appeared or been referred to in tons of games since 2008. Most of these appearances are in Electronic Arts titles since EA owns theDead Spacefranchise;Dead Space’s first crossoverappeared in 2009 in EA Redwood Shores’MySims Agentsfor the Wii alongside the release of Shores’Dead Space: Extraction. The fifth installment of the rated-E simulation game series,Agentshas players solve cases at first as a small-town detective before being recruited to become a special agent. Eventually, players can find an abandoned ski suit on a mountain which turns out to be Clarke’s Engineering Suit.
Following the release ofAgentsandExtraction, EA Redwood Shores was rebranded as Visceral Games. With its new name, it released its next original M-rated franchise in 2010:Dante’s Inferno. AGod of War-like, hack-and-slash adaptation of Dante Alighieri’sDivine Comedy,Infernohad players embody a Templar called Dante who defeats Death, takes his scythe, and fights through the nine Circles of Hell to rescue his wife Beatrice’s soul from Lucifer.
If players purchasedDante’s InfernoDeath Edition, players could play through Hell dressed in Clarke’s Engineering Suit fromDead Space 1. That said, theDead Spacecostume is no longer available for download afterInferno’s servers were shut down in 2023.
While Clarke or at leastDead Space-inspired helmets and costumes would go on to appear in several other EA games, they would appear in a few non-EA titles as well. Some of these include Clarke as a playable character in theSuper Smash Bros-likePlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, a skin inMinecraft: Xbox 360 Edition’s Skin Pack 5, an unofficial skin inUnfortunate Spacemen, and a helmet found inViscera Cleanup Detailto name a few. Clarke’s most recent appearance in non-EA games was as a limited-time skin inFortnite’s Chapter 4: Season 1in 2023.
Dead Space’s appearances in other EA titles includeApex Legends,Army of Two: The 40th Day,Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel,Battlefield 3,Battlefield Hardline,Battlefield Heroes,Dragon Age 2,Knockout City,MySims Sky Heroes,NBA Jam,Skate 3, andTiger Woods PGA Tour 10.
With the fate of a potentialDead Space 2remake currently unknown, EA and other game developers may continue crossing over with or inserting fun Easter eggs ofDead Spacein upcoming games. Since most external references toDead Spaceappear in other EA titles, the nextDead SpaceEaster egg could viably appear inthe upcomingDragon Age: The Veilguard.
In 2011’sDragon Age 2, players could download a set ofDead Space 2Advanced Suit-inspired armor called Ser Isaac’s Armor. As a sort of nod to this previous reference,Veilguardcould introduce another armor set based on the remake.
Another potential appearance for Clarke in other games could be in the asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror game,Dead by Daylight. ThroughoutDbD’s lifespan, multiple guest killers and survivors based on several films, shows, and video games have appeared, such asSilent Hill’s Pyramid Head,Left 4 Dead’s Bill, and, most recently,Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft. Now, Isaac Clarke would be a perfectsurvivor forDead by Daylight.
