Summary

This article contains SPOILERS for Deadpool & Wolverine!

It wouldn’t be aDeadpoolmovie without an absurd amount of crude language deserving of an R-rating. As Marvel Studios dips its toes into what can be achieved with foul language and an abundance of violence, the MCU’sDeadpool & Wolverinelet the gates fly open for the potential lines spouted from the Merc with a Mouth and even the rugged Wolverine.

Many characters have some hilarious and heartfelt quotes inDeadpool & Wolverinethat provides a laugh or a deeper thought to make sure that those who have seenDeadpool & Wolverinewill never forget the words ushered from something that people wouldn’t expect to be produced by Disney.

Deadpool’s Reaction to the Shocking Reveal of Henry Cavill as Wolverine

During Deadpool’s bloody odyssey to find a Wolverine that can help him, he comes across one with arms even bigger than Hugh Jackman’s. Deadpool begins to chatter, and comments that he kind of looks like Henry Cavill. As this Wolverine variant turns, it turns out it is indeed Henry Cavill as Wolverine, a fun cameo with a fun line.

Deadpool refers to him as the Cavillerine and even says how it feels right to see him in the mutton chops. Even better, is how Deadpool insults the DC Universe forhow they treated Cavill’s Superman. Sadly, as funny as this line and cameo is, it seems to end there.

Deadpool Remarks on Hugh Jackman’s Decades of Playing Wolverine

Deadpool often has fourth-wall-breaking commentary and meta jokes that take jabs at producers and other creative IP licenses. One that stands out is when he proudly shows the return of Wolverine and says how Disney is going to make Hugh Jackman stay as Wolverine until he’s 90 years old. It’s hilarious and probably true.

The Multiverse hasopened the door to many returning actors, including Michael Keaton’s return as Batman after 34 years, so it’s not out of the question that Disney would bring back Hugh Jackman even past the point where the actor is probably comfortable.

X-23 Reassures Wolverine That He’s Not Past Redemption

Despite the jokes and violence that surroundDeadpool & Wolverine, the film isn’t afraid to show its heart. With Dafne Keen’s return as X-23, she tells a depressed, guilt-ridden Wolverine that he was always the wrong guy, and that’s what made him so special. Everyone can have a defining hero moment despite what they have done.

It’s abeautiful moment for Wolverine, as it teaches him the value of accepting his misdeeds and his guilt to become better, and shows that despite how much he hates himself, he still can’t help but do what’s right. He might be the wrong guy, but he’s the best there is at what he does.

Deadpool Doesn’t Have Kind Words for His Ex-IP Handler

One of the most chuckling lines of the movie is when Wade Wilson is invited into the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to Paradox in the TVA. Deadpool being chosen to be saved from his universe is met withrelief from Deadpooland Ryan Reynolds, who grabs the camera in a fourth wall break and cuss out Fox for their treatment of the characters before headbutting it.

Deadpool’s urgency and pride to leave Fox behind and enter into the loving now R-rated arms of Disney is one that can make anyone laugh, especially to those who know of all the behind-the-scenes drama and infamy surroundingX-Men Origins: Wolverine’s Deadpool.

Deadpool’s Callback to Loki’s Rant Against the Incredible Hulk

Deadpool’s multiverse shenaniganssee him come face-to-face with the Incredible Hulk. Of course, Deadpool wastes no time in being irritating and quotes Loki fromThe Avengers(2012) with his own Deadpool spin on it. Once again, Deadpool refers to himself as Marvel Jesus, before being thrown into a tree to be impaled.

It’s a funny line in itself for Deadpool referring to himself with such high importance, but it’s made even better for those who recognize the callback to one of the MCU’s funniest scenes when Hulk smashed Loki and called him a puny god.

5“Welcome to the MCU! You’re Joining at a Bit of a Low Point.”

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is Welcomed to the MCU by Deadpool with a Meta Joke

It’s a triumph to see Hugh Jackman in the MCU after 24 years as the Wolverine in the Fox universe. To get Wolverine and Hugh Jackman into the superior version of the Marvel Universe is one that should be celebrated, but Deadpool can’t help but make it awkward by welcoming him in whilst alsoconfirming that the MCU is at its lowest-rated ever, both critically and financially.

It’s funny that after all these years of success, Marvel manages to get the iconic Wolverine involved when Phase Five has been pretty lackluster. It’s nice to see Marvel make fun of itself this time around, and hopefully,Deadpool & Wolverineis a turning point.

Blade Returns With an Iconic Line

The smoothness and violence of Blade cannot be denied, and this is an iconic Marvel character who paved the way forthe future of Marvel movieswhen 1998’sBladewas released. Wesley Snipes makes a shocking surprise appearance as Blade inDeadpool & Wolverine, and he can’t help but throw in a decent line to pay homage to the original and only Blade.

Not only does it always sound cool coming from Wesley Snipes, but it’s a nice callback to one of the coldest one-liners inBlade’s movies, and it’s something that the character can’t help to say after a chaotic battle in Cassandra Nova’s compound.

Wolverine Expresses Therapudic Joy Over Killing a Hundred Deadpools

It’s no secret that Wolverine and Deadpool have a rather violent relationship. By the end of the movie, they might have learned to work together, but it’s still therapeutic to stab him with an adamantium claw, or six. When Deadpool and Wolverine are facing the Deadpool Corps, Wolverine is presented with the opportunity to let his anger out on 100 Deadpools.

The excitement in his voice makes this a fun line, especially when audiences get to see Wolverine go bloody and wild on the hordes of Deadpools, causing a violent flurry of death and blood that most certainly feels euphoric for Wolverine.

2“It’s One Of God’s Best Jokes You Can’t Die, Except That’s On All Of Us.”

Wolverine Proves That Words Cut Harder Than Adamantium Claws

Wolverine is always the straight man and paired with the constantly excitable and quipping Deadpool, it’s only a matter of time before his short temper explodes. Yet, Wolverine’s words hurt more than his adamantium claws, and he wastes no words in a heavy monologue about howinsufferable and annoyingWade Wilson is.

The best line from his whole hate-filled speech is how he refers to Deadpool as a joke that he can’t die, but it’s at the expense of everyone who knows Deadpool because they have to tolerate him. It’s a fun angst-filled rant, but one that cuts deeper to Deadpool than any knife.

Deadpool Comments on Wolverine’s Iconic Cowl Making an Appearance

It’s a moment that’s 24 years in the making. Doing away with the black leather, Hugh Jackman not only dons a comic-accurate yellow costume, but he also finally wears the sharp cowl with white eyes that fans have wanted for years. Even Deadpool is shocked and amazed at the occasion when Wolverine finally puts on the iconic cowl.

Even better is Wolverine’s smile and eager reply to Deadpool’s question, where he answers: “Killing mostly.” Wolverine seems all too excited to get suited up for the opportunity of a lifetime: murder a bunch of annoying Deadpools.
