Summary
Destiny 2releases Update 8.0.5.2, altering the special ammo rules for the Crucible and making a number of fixes, including restoring the Graviton Lance pulse rifle to its rightful state. WhileDestiny 2players are currently on an Episode: Echoes story hiatus, Bungie continues to ensure there is always something to do, as the annual Solstice of Heroes event is currently in its third and final week. Alongside the Bonfire Bash activity, players can work towards special armor with unique glowing effects, as well as hunt for the best rolls of new weapons like the Crowning Duologue and Fortunate Star, to name a few.
In addition to consistently rotating content, Bungie continues to updateDestiny 2with frequent patches. However, on occasion, some of the updates tend to have unforeseen effects in the game, including a recent update that effectively broke a weapon. Following the release of Update 8.0.5 earlier in August,Destiny 2players discovered an issue with Graviton Lance, as the pulse rifle now fired at a much slower rate than before. Oddly enough, some noticed that a legacy issue with the weapon was seemingly fixed, allowing its perk to trigger one self-destructing enemies, though the slow rate of fire was disappointing.
Thankfully, the Graviton Lance issue has finally been resolved thanks toDestiny 2’s most recent update. While not nearly as large as somerecentDestiny 2updates like the aforementioned 8.0.5, this patch has made Graviton Lance’s RPM return to normal. The update also tweaked a few other weapons, fixing a bug that reduced the melee damage on Glaives, and fixing a UI issue with the Fortunate Star so that when inspecting it, the proper stat values will display. In addition, the Osmiomancy Gloves and Spirit of Osmiomancy exotic perk will now consistently give energy back when Coldsnap Grenades are used against Champion enemies.
The update also makes another change toSpecial ammo rules forDestiny 2’s PvP Crucible playlist. Specifically, within the Trials of Osiris activity, players no longer spawn with “one kill’s worth” of Special Ammo at the start of each round. Special ammo crates now spawn at two fixed and neutral locations 10 seconds before the Dominion zone activates, with each create giving the player who interacts with it enough for a single kill’s worth of ammo.
While players will likely enjoy getting the Graviton Lance back in working order, one issue that continues to plagueDestiny 2is an issue with Bungie name changes. Recently, the developer confirmed that a high number of player accounts being impacted by name changes, which typically only occurs after a player violates in-game policies. While Bungie continues to look into a fix, the studio is planning to issue name change tokens to all players and has applied a server-side update to prevent the issue from impacting more accounts.
