Summary

Destiny 2players discover a weird change made to the Graviton Lance exotic pulse rifle following update 8.0.5, though it appears the nerf wasn’t intentional. As a live service title,Destiny 2is constantly changing and evolving both through the content it has on offer for players as well as more frequent updates designed to resolve bugs and other issues.

This week,Bungie released Update 8.0.5 forDestiny 2, one of the larger patches the game has seen recently. Some of the bigger updates within the patch is that adept variants of Trials of Osiris weapons are slightly easier to obtain, as a fireteam of three will no longer lose a win on the Passage of Persistence after losing a match. Crucible received a number of tweaks, including better map weighting and quitter penalty system, as well as a way to focus a single BRAVE Arsenal weapon from Zavala for the Onslaught playlist activity. However, it seems as though the update also had an unforeseen impact on one ofDestiny 2’s more popular exotics as well.

Following theDestiny 2weekly resetand update, fans quickly noticed that the Graviton Lance pulse rifle rate of fire was much slower than it has been. As it turns out, the change was an accidental one as the official Bungie Help Twitter profile admitted that the slower rate of fire was due to a bug that the studio has identified and was planning a fix in a future update. Following up on that,Destiny 2Global Community Lead Dylan “dmg04” Gafner provided a bit more detail on the issue, confirming that the change wasn’t intentional, though there’s no timetable for a fix as of yet.

Destiny 2 Fan Reactions to The Graviton Lance Nerf

After applying the update, fans immediately noticed the slowed rate of fire with Graviton Lance. Initially, many believed this adjustment was on purpose, especially with the patch notes indicating a global change being made to heavy burst pulse rifles which were initially displaying the wrong RPM. While Bungie would later confirm that was unrelated to Graviton Lance’s situation, one user named gabriel03gamer theorized that the weapon is actually fixed following the update. With the slower fire rate,Graviton Lance and its Cosmology perknow works on all enemy types, including enemies that self-destruct like cursed thrall, screebs, and others. As many indicated in the comments,Destiny 2again trades one problem for another.

Another big component of the 8.0.5 update were improvements made to farming the exotic class armor introduced in The Final Shape expansion. Specifically, Bungie added a weekly challenge to the Dual Destiny mission, effectively giving players a free armor drop simply for finishing the mission once per week. Additionally, thespawn rate for acquiringDestiny 2’s exotic class armor from chestswithin the Pale Heart was increased, though players are seemingly pushing back on this change as the drop rates appear to be still quite low, especially from players attempting to farm within the daily Overthrow location.
