The prequel series will be initially set in 1991, and Christian Slater will play the younger and very much alive version of Harry Morgan, but it won’t be long before his character dies if the timeline set out inDexteris followed.Dexter: Original Sincould copy a vital plot point in relation to Harry’s character from the original series and save it for a later season of the prequel show.

Harry Morgan killed himself by overdosing on his heart medication in 1992.Dexter: Original Sinis set in 1991, so if the timeline set out inDexteris going to be followed, the audience doesn’t have long with Harry before he dies. However, just because a character dies in the Dexter-verse, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are gone forever. This has never been more true than in the case of the character of Harry Morgan.
James Remar’s iteration of Harry Morgan was long dead by the timeDexterbegan in 2006, which meant all his appearances in the series were either flashbacks or asDexter’s ghost.Dexter: Original Sinwill have to show Harry’s death on screen in a later season, if it plans to go past the year of 1992,which it surely will. This could spell the end of Christian Slater’s run in the prequel series, or it could just be the start.
Dexter: Original Sincould copy a plot point from the original series and have Harry’s ghost appear in later seasons, with Christian Slater playing him this time. This would be an interesting route to go down, as the audience would finally see what led to Dexter seeing his father in visions. It will be interesting to see if there was more to Harry’s death than his alleged suicide.Key character, Tom Matthews, eventually admitted to Dexter that Harry died by suicide, but what Matthews doesn’t know is that the reasons behind Harry’s death were linked toDexter’s dark passenger. Or were they? Maybe Harry was involved in some shady dealings that led to him taking his own life.
Fans Want To Know Why Dexter Started Seeing Harry in Ghost Form And Dexter: Original Sin Could Provide These Answers
Dexter was constantly followed around by the ghost of his late father, Harry, in the originalDexterseries. His presence was supposed to be a reminder ofHarry’s own codefor his son, to keep Dexter on his twisted version of the straight and narrow, which involved only killing bad people. At the beginning ofDexter: Original Sin, Harry Morgan will physically be around to stopDexter exploring his urge to kill good people, but after he dies, this could make things harder for young Dexter.
There is a possibility that Dexter chooses to keep his father around in his subconscious so he never deviates from the code. Butfans would find it interesting to find out exactly how Harry’s ghost was formed.Of course, Dexter felt a lot of guilt over his father’s death, and more so when he discovered the real reason why he passed away. There’s also a chance thatif Dexter’s visions of his late father do appear inDexter: Original Sin, they could be somewhat different to how they were in the original series, and not just because of the change in actor portraying the character. As Dexter’s urges increase, the voice of his dead father will be much stronger, as he tries to keep his love for murder under control.
When Dexter’s urge to kill appears to dissipate towards the end of the original series, this also coincides with the departure of Harry’s ghost. Dexter’s guilt transfers to his beloved late sister, Debra inDexter: New Blood, and she is the one who has to keep him in check.Dexter: Original Sinand the sequel series,Dexter: Resurrection, will run alongside each other, so it would be a good idea to have Christian Slater’s Harry Morgan appear as Dexter’s ghostly apparition in both shows to link them together.
