Michael C. Hall recently shocked fans at San Diego Comic Con 2024 when he announced he would be reprising the role of Dexter Morgan in a sequel series calledDexter: Resurrection. The major retcon of Dexter not being deadwill seeDexter: Resurrectionpick up immediately after the end ofDexter: New Blood.Dexter will be in a critical condition and requiring a lot of medical assistance, butwhen Dexter does recover, he will probably be facing up to the death penalty in the state of Florida for all the murders he committed.However,Dexter: Resurrectionintends to run for multiple seasons, so there isn’t much of a show if Dexter is locked up in a prison cell awaiting execution. This means it’s highly likelyDexter will probably be on the run inDexter: Resurrection,withthe key character, Angel Batista, and the rest of law enforcement on his tail.

Dexter Could Help Law Enforcement Track Down Serial Killers In Dexter: Resurrection
In addition to being an excellent blood spatter analyst in the originalDexterseries, Dexter Morgan was also an incredible unofficial detective, who discovered whothe villains of theDexterserieswere long before Miami Metro Homicide caught on. Dexter knew how killers operated, because he was also a killer, albeit with the constraints ofHarry’s code, so he knew how to track them down.Dexter: Resurrectioncould see law enforcement use Dexter’s killer instincts to help track down other serial killersand that could be the unique new concept for the show moving forward.
Instead of Dexter languishing in a prison cell, he could be helping law enforcement find some of America’s worst serial murderers.If Dexter chooses to co-operate, they might be willing to commute his sentence to life in prison instead of the dreaded death penaltyin a potentialreturn to the iconic location of Miami. It’s unlikely they would allow Dexter to kill, which could cause a potential issue for the sequel series, as the whole point is that Dexter kills bad people. However, Dexter’s ‘new job’ could merely provide him with the opportunity to eventually escape and start a new life on the run.
Paramount + has big plans for the Dexter-verse since it merged with Showtime, and they clearly see the importance ofMichael C. Hall’s involvement, with the actor providing ‘the inner voice of Dexter’narration inDexter: Original Sinas well as reprising his most famous role in the sequel series.Dexter: Resurrectionwill probably not just be one season, likeDexter: New Bloodwas, and they need to set up a new dynamic,so the show can potentially run for many seasons.
