TheDiablo 4devs have revealed that they have no plans to include a solo mode. In aninterview with Wowheadduring Gamescom 2024, Production Director Tiffany Wat said that currently the team isn’t thinking about adding a solo mode to the game, but noted that they “are always listening to the community.” The Production Director then added that despite this, the devs “are always discussing it internally.”Diablo 3’s Solo Self-Found modewas released for seasonal characters, allowing them to share resources with each other while only being able to participate in single-player games.
Devs Address Diablo 4’s Solo Player Experience
While Wat revealed that the Solo Self-Found mode is not currently in the plans, the Lead Game Designer Rex Dickson spoke about the solo player experience in the Vessel of Hatred expansion. Rex revealed that it will take at least two players to enter the Dark Citadel, anew endgame activity to be added toDiablo 4. The Lead Game Designer also said that the Scrolls of Retempering, obtained in the citadel, will have a “very low percent chance” of dropping outside it. Thus, solo players will not be excluded from getting the upcoming consumable that allows players to reset an item’s Tempering attempts.
Although Solo Self-Found mode is not on its way toDiablo 4, Blizzard has been gradually addressing other player requests. Previously, pets were added, and with the release of Season 5, it became possible tosummoningDiablo 4bosses again without resetting a dungeon. With the release of the Vessel of Hatred expansion, another requested feature will be added, allowing players to finally assemble and find parties for the game’s different activities.
