Diablo 4has had groups of players scouring its open world for secrets, such as the elusiveCow Level, since launch. However, the Ring of Misfortune is the first secret found in quite some time. This Ring is a rare Ancestral Unique, obtainable only from a series of convoluted steps in the Overworld. The complexity of getting the ring has made many players seek out guides outlining the steps.
Luckily, guides such as this one exist, which will outline the easiest method to get the Lucky Coin item, where to take the Lucky Coin, and how to use it to get the Ring of Misfortune to drop. Furthermore, players will find a breakdown of the ring’s stats, and which popular builds might use the Ring of Misfortune in their itemization.
How To Get The Ring Of Misfortune
The Ring of Misfortune is an Ancestral Unique obtained through a series of unlikely actions. It requires one character of each class in the same instance to offer a Lucky Coin to the Wishing Well one after the other. Currently, this means five people must cooperate, although markings around the Wishing Well indicate thatthe Spiritborn Classmay up that number to six when it releases.
To get all people to the Wishing Well in the same instance, it is advised to make a maximum-sized party of four, have one person leave but choose to stay in the realm, and then invite the fifth person to your party.
Where To Find The Wishing Well
The Wishing Well is locatedeast of Cerrigar in Scosglen. Players might initially think it is only a set piece, but approaching the well while having a Lucky Coin in the character’s inventory will give an interact prompt. This prompt allows them to toss their coin into the well. When done alone, this merely unlocks the title “Well Wisher.” However, doing it in a group as described above will yield a meteor shower and the Ring of Misfortune.
How To Get A Lucky Coin
Obtaining a Lucky Coin is by far the most difficult portion of this secret side-quest. They have a low drop chance when looting an NPC killed by an enemy in the Overworld if the player meets two conditions when the body is searched.
The Best Place To Farm A Lucky Coin
The Shrine of Greed has a very short duration, so being near a location where an NPC is likely to die is key to farming the Lucky Coin. The best place to farm Lucky Coins appears to be in the western part of the Strand region in Scosglen, where a Greed Shrine routinely spawns near a location of frequent NPC deaths.
While drops in World Tier 3 and 4 have been confirmed, it is currently unknown if other World Tiers can drop a Lucky Coin.
The Ring Of Misfortune: Statistics & Build Ideas
The Ring of Misfortune has the following stats and can be worn from level one despite its powerful item level of 925.
The increase in stats and life per second is of interest to many characters in the late game. However, the Lucky Hit Effect is a substantial downside for most builds. As a result, it is expected that the Ring of Misfortune will see play on builds who do not use Primary Resource while being ignored by everyone else.
Examples of builds that could effectively utilize the Ring of Misfortune include:
Overall, many endgame builds could see The Ring of Misfortune as part of their BiS, so gather some friends and get to the Wishing Well.
