Multiplayer has been part of Gameloft’s popular life sim since December 2023, having debuted inDisney Dreamlight Valley’s The Pumpkin King Returns update. Since then, players have been able to visit other people’s worlds, although PlayStation users were limited to only having access to valleys from their peers within Sony’s ecosystem.
Disney Dreamlight Valley Cross-Platform Play Coming to PlayStation on August 21
This restriction is finally about to be lifted as part of theDisney Dreamlight ValleyDapper Delights update. The upcoming patch will introduce cross-platform play for the PS4 and PS5, thus bringing the PlayStation port of the game on par with its other versions. Dapper Delights is scheduled to drop on Wednesday, August 21, though its exact release time has yet to be announced.
Cross-platform play won’t change anything about the mechanics of initiatingDisney Dreamlight Valley’s multiplayer mode, but merely expand the pool of available valleys that everyone can visit. Players who still haven’t dabbled in the game’s multiplayer first need to unlock Vanellope to do so. TheWreck-It Ralphprotagonist will then provide them with a quest called Valley Visits, which starts with the player getting the KL-1200 Valley Visit Station from her. This decor item needs to be placed at any outdoor location in the Valley via the Furniture menu. Doing so will complete Vanellope’s quest and enable multiplayer.
Disney Dreamlight Valley Multiplayer Remains Fairly Limited
Looking at the social media chatter surrounding this upcoming change, it ranges from mild enthusiasm to indifference. While the ability to visit even more players is an all-around positive addition,Disney Dreamlight Valley’s multiplayer isn’t exactly one of the game’s most popular features. That’s largely because the mode offers fairly little in the way of functionality, to the point that touring other people’s worlds is almost all there is to it. Given that state of affairs, multiplayer is nowadays largely used for conductingDisney Dreamlight Valleyitem trades.
Cross-platform play for PlayStation consoles is far from the only new addition set to arrive with Dapper Delights' debut. The game’s next major patch is also going to introduce another character in the form of Tiana, the protagonist ofThe Princess and the Frog. Tiana’s restaurant and food stall will be part of the package as well, together with a new Star Path inspired by the Roaring Twenties. The nextDisney Dreamlight Valleyupdate will also add to the inventory of Scrooge McDuck’s Store and introduce new types of furniture and more quality-of-life improvements like the ability to favorite and hide items, among other novelties.
