Summary
One of the greatest games ever created, DOOM has earned its place among the video game hall of fame over the years, and its popularity is showing no signs of waning. Now, mega-fans of the franchise can pre-order their favorite series in one, convenient bundle!
Pre-orders are open now through both Bethesda and Amazon for the fairly reasonable price of $80.The DOOM Anthology collectionincludes DOOM, DOOM II, DOOM 64, DOOM 3, DOOM (2016), and DOOM Eternal Deluxe Edition, as well as a steelbook game case that harkens back to the game’s humble beginnings with a simple black background and blood-red letters.
Likely the most alluring part of this anthology collection is the 5-inch BFG replica. By far the most favored weapon in the game, the “Big, Uh, Freakin' Gun” is just as fun a concept as it was when it was first introduced to the world in 1993. The BFG comes complete with a display stand and LED lights to make sure it shines anywhere you set it up.
It is a bit disappointing to see that the replica will be just a fraction of the size of the in-game version of the BFG, but its design is certainly better for display shelves and tight wallets. Bethesda has a track record of creating lackluster replicas when bundling them with games, but this collection does represent a pretty significant price dip compared to other special edition anthologies that have been released. Additionally, it should be noted that none of the games will be physical, though it’s unclear exactly why, especially considering the inclusion of a steelbook case.
However, players who want to have the full core collection of DOOM games shouldn’t pass over this bundle. The replica alone, regardless of its size, makes the bundle worthwhile to anyone interested in figures and other gaming memorabilia. At the same time, it’s the perfect time to play through the DOOM series again, given Bethesda’s announcement of a new installment.
DOOM: The Dark Agestakes the classic sci-fi campaign and transplants it into a medieval setting, promising more dead devils and demon hordes lining up for retribution. The game is already highly anticipated, even though it’s not set to release until sometime in 2025.
Players itching to get back to demon-slaying won’t have to wait that long though. The DOOM Anthology collection and replica BFG will be released on October 22nd. It’s not unusual for Bethesda collections like this one to sell out well before the release date, so if you can’t live without getting your hands on a cool BFG and every mainline DOOM game, be sure to preorder this Anthology as soon as possible. Various versions are available, so you can play on PC, Playstation, Xbox, or Switch!
