Summary
The formerTwitchstreamer Dr Disrespect has recently changed his header image on Twitter, making fans curious about the possible reasons for the update. Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, also known as Dr Disrespect, was permanently banned fromTwitchin 2020, and the gaming content creator recently received strong backlash when the reasons behind the ban surfaced.
For a long time, the reasons behind Dr Disrespect’s ban remained a secret. Back in June, however, former Twitch staff member Cody Conners claimed thatDr Disrespect was banned from Twitch due to sexting with a minorusing Whispers, a private messaging service that Twitch had at the time. While Beahm originally denied the accusations, he later acknowledged some of the truth in the rumors and announced that he would take a vacation soon. After that, he completely left social media and streaming.
Now, a Twitter user called RizlerUK noticed that Dr Disrespect changed his profile’s header image on Twitter, marking the first update in the content creator’s profile since the start of his vacation. In the new image, it’s possible to see a fishing bobber with Dr Disrespect’s logo on it floating on the water during the sunset. Most social media users have speculated that the new image represents Dr Disrespect’s previously announced vacation, as fishing is often associated with it. One fan called probMrJT went further into speculation, though, suggesting that the image of these dark waters “evokes feelings of isolation and vulnerability, symbolizing being adrift in a vast, unpredictable environment.”
Gamers Speculate On Dr Disrespect’s New Social Media Banner
The decision to step away from social media was likely due to the backlash caused by Conners’ accusations, which prompted studios such asMidnight Society to cut ties with Dr Disrespect. Midnight Society’s image was closely linked to Beahm’s, so the decision surprised some fans at the time.
Apart from the Midnight Society studio, essentially all the other partners of the streamer distance themselves from him. For example, the gaming accessory manufacturerTurtle Beach ended its partnership with Dr Disrespectsoon after the events, removing the streamer’s merchandise from their website shortly afterward.
Dr Disrespect was also removed fromRogue Company, an F2P shooter game, and his skin is no longer available for gamers who purchased it before. The decision was not received positively by fans who purchased the premium skin, but the developers did promise to issue refunds to anyone impacted by this change. At the moment, it’s not known what Dr Disrespect’s plans are for the future. However, it’s possible that the streamer will return eventually.
