Summary
TheDragon Balluniverse is full of different alien species, with the Saiyan Race being the series’ most iconic. Introduced much later on in the narrative, the revelation of Goku’s Saiyan heritage opened the series up to a wider universe. It alsointroduced fans to plenty of Saiyan characters, the most notable being Vegeta.
The Saiyan Princequickly became a fan-favorite following his introduction, changing from an arrogant villain to one of Erath’s strongest defenders. While Vegeta’s strength is well noted throughout the series, can the same thing be said about his father?
Saiyans Were Some of the Strongest Warriors in the Universe
Thoughnot as strong as the main Saiyans fans would come to knowthroughout the series, Universe 7’s Saiyans were known to be some of the galaxy’s fiercest warriors. While there were other beings in the universe that could easily overpower them, the Saiyan race could hold their own against non-warrior cultures like those of Earth or Planet Plant.
Both before andfollowing their subjugation under Frieza’s rule, the Saiyans became infamous for their lust for battle and ability to conquer other planets easily. However, the majority of Saiyans were considered to be low-class warriors, with only a few mid-class warriors and even fewer elites in their ranks. As their ruler, King Vegeta was considered to be the strongest Saiyan warrior prior to their eradication – though this probably wasn’t true.
How Vegeta Compared to His Father in Terms of Strength
While King Vegeta stood as the ruler of the Saiyan Race, hewasn’t the strongest warrior the Saiyans had to offer.Vegeta claimed that even as a child he knew that he was more powerful than his father. Knowing this, it’s likely that King Vegeta was stronger than the majority of low-class and mid-class Saiyan warriors, but was nowhere near as strong as high-ranking members of the Frieza Force and Frieza himself.
When transformed into a Great Ape, King Vegeta’s power level would likely be between 100,000 and 180,000. That means that he could handle the majority of Frieza’s strongest warriors in this form, with the potential exception of Captain Ginyu. While it’s possible that King Vegeta would have gotten stronger if he’d survived Frieza’s attack on the planet, he was likely already close to his ceiling by the time of his death.
So Just How Strong Was King Vegeta?
With howstrong characters like Goku, Vegeta, Broly, and the half-Saiyan characters are, it’s easy to underestimate the Saiyan race’s strength prior to their extinction. TheDragon Balluniverse is filled with world-ending threats, most of which would have had no issues dealing with any class of Saiyan warrior. Though not as strong as the main Saiyans – who have each achieved some level of the legendary Super Saiyan form – Saiyans were still among some of the stronger characters in the series when compared to those introduced before them.
As the leader of Planet Vegeta, King Vegeta earned his place in the Saiyan hierarchy. A key figure in the Saiyan-Truffle war, there’s no doubt that King Vegeta was among the strongest of his people for a time. But as with the rest of the Saiyan race, his strength just doesn’t hold up when compared to some of Universe 7s elite fighters.
