Fans were also given the release dates in this trailer, withDragon Quest 3 HD-2Dlaunching November 2024, while the remakes ofDQ1and2will launch the following year. In anticipation of the game’s release after a lengthy drought of updates, Square Enix has given fans some more information about its gameplay features, such as the performance modes and difficulty settings.
In a report by Game*Spark (translated byAutomaton), it confirms that the PS5 version ofDragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remakewill have both aGraphics Priority and Performance Priority mode, with the former focusing on rendering the game’s 2D pixel art and 3D backgrounds, while performance prioritizes the game’s frame rate. These modes are standard in most PS5 games, giving players the chance to choose between looking at the game’s most beautiful presentation or having the game run consistently at a certain frame rate.
TheDragon Quest 3remake has three difficulty settings - Dracky Quest Mode, Dragon Quest Mode, and Draconian Quest Mode, which correspond to easy, normal, andhard modes of pastDragon Questgames. The easy mode has the player dealing increased damage, and certain bosses will not automatically recover HP in battle. In this game’s hard mode, all the bosses will have increased HP totals, along with rewarding less XP and gold.
TheDragon Quest 3remake will also have a number of quality-of-life improvements and modern features, such as the ability to save anywhere, along with an auto-save function. The remake will also include newer features from otherDragon Questgames, such asthe Recall function fromDragon Quest 6, which gives players the ability to memorize NPC dialogue, destination and quest guides, along with options to change the game’s movement and battle speed.
