In a heartfelt message shared onTwitter, Hideaki Itsuno revealed that he is set to leave Capcom at the end of the month, after 30 years and 5 months of service. He expressed gratitude towards fans for their “long-term support of the games and characters I have been responsible for.” Additionally, he said that he hopes they will “continue to support"forthcoming Capcom gamesand their characters. However, theDragon’s Dogmadirector also confirmed that his departure from the company doesn’t mean he’s stopping work in the industry anytime soon.
Dragon’s Dogma Director Leaves Capcom But Will Continue Making Games
In his post, Itsuno highlighted his plans for the future and his intention to continue plying his trade in the game industry. He stated that his next chapter in game development begins right away, from September, in which he will build “a new game in a new environment.” Moreover, the game director gave a general idea of what he aims to achieve with his subsequent projects. Itsuno said that his aim is to “create fun, beautiful games,” which he hopes will compare to his existing work like theDevil May Crygamesor even exceed it in terms of being memorable. He asked his fans to keep an eye out for his “next creation.”
Based on Itsuno’s comments, it’s clear that his time creating games is far from over. However, the change in scenario involves theDevil May Cryveteran working on his projects elsewhere. While he may join another studio and work there, when senior game directors leave a major firm, there are always chances that they may be looking to set up an independent studio of their own and get full creative control on projects.
