There is a lot more to combat inDungeonbornthan just wildly swinging a sword or casting projectiles. You cannot start by simply choosing a class based on aesthetics. You must understand thepros and cons of each class, and most importantly, familiarize yourself with their unique skills. Being an early-access game, though,Dungeonbornefalls a bit short of telling players how to exactly unlock and equip new skills.
How to Unlock & Change Skills in Dungeonborne
Every class inDungeonbornehas various active and passive skills tailored to their unique gameplay. They all get five passive skills each. However, the number of active skills varies between classes, with some like Pyromancer and Swordmaster having just two and others like Fighter and Cryomancer having up to four.

you’re able to read what each skill does whilecreating a new character inDungeonborne. The class selection screen, however, does not clearly explain how you unlock these skills and how you can equip them later on. Most players do not even realize they have unlocked a new skill and continue to play with their default ones. This ambiguous progression system might be improved asDungeonborneworks its way out of early access. For the time being, though, here is what you need to know about unlocking and changing skills.
Active Skills
You unlock new active skills by leveling up a class, and can only equip two of them at once inDungeonborne. They must be manually activated by pressing Q and E. Make sure to only activate them when needed because each active skill comes with a cooldown.
To see what active skills you have unlocked for a class, open the character screen by pressing Tab on the camp menu. They will be shown right beneath your character. Simply click on the active skill you want for the next dungeon run.
You cannot change skills while running a dungeon inDungeonborne. You mustset up your characterbeforehand.
Passive Skills
Unlike active skills, you’re able to equip all passive skills of a class at the same time. They are unlocked by fulfilling their activation conditions, which require you to achieve a certain number of attributes. In the screenshot above, achieving 62 Dexterity points unlocks Evaporate for the Rogue. Going even higher with 93 Dexterity unlocks Featherfoot, which has an extra activation condition where entering stealth increases movement speed.
Unlocking all passive skills takes a lot of time because there are only two ways to obtain attributes. Firstly, you gain attributes by leveling up. Secondly, wearing high-level gear gives you more attribute points in comparison. However, you will need todismantle a ton of gearto have enough crafting materials.
