Dungeons and Dragonsrecently announced four sourcebooks coming in 2025: a new Starter Set, an adventure anthology inspired by the dragon redesigns, and two books delving into the Forgotten Realms. As both the 50-year anniversary ofD&Dand the 10-year anniversary of5th Edition, 2024 was a big year forDungeons and Dragons. Much of Wizards of the Coast’s time and effort has been spent on developing a new version of the5th Editioncore rulebooks, with theDungeons and Dragons 2024 Player’s Handbookreleasing on September 17, and the 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide on November 12.

However,Dungeons and Dragonsis already looking towards its future releases. During its recentD&DDirect presentation, Wizards of the Coast revealed several new books coming in 2025. A new anthology with 10 adventures, each themed after one of thenew dragon designs inDungeons and Dragons, releases next summer, and a Starter Set using the revised rules is scheduled for fall 2025, featuring a reimagined version of the classicThe Keep on the Borderlandsintroductory adventure. Additionally, a player guide and adventure guide set in the Forgotten Realms are expected to arrive sometime next year.

Though both are currently operating under working titles,The Forgotten Realms Player Guidewill contain a setting overview of Faerun, plus subclasses, feats, backgrounds, and spells, including a new type of spell, as well as information on how to join iconic factions like the Harpers or Zhentarim.The Forgotten Realms Adventure Guideis a Dungeon Master resource that will contain detailed setting information, including deep dives into Baldur’s Gate, Calimshan, The Dalelands, the Moonshae Isles, and Icewind Dale. Given thenew core rulebooks return to the originalD&Dsetting of Greyhawk, fans are glad to see some books will go back to the Forgotten Realms ofBaldur’s Gate 3fame.

The Wizards of the Coast presentation showcased a few other new products coming this year as well. The Secret Lair xDungeons and DragonsSuperdrop featuringMagic: The Gatheringcards of classic and iconic characters is available now, and a new collection of 12D&D-themed LEGO minifigure blind boxes will go on sale starting September 1. Several third-party releases will be added toD&D Beyondsoon, including books from Kobold Press and MCDM, andProject Sigil–Dungeons and Dragons’ new virtual tabletop– enters closed beta this fall, with sign-ups available viaD&D Beyondright now.
