Update 1.18 forDying Light 2, also referred to as the Community QoL Update, has just been released, adding a number of bug fixes and changes to the game. Prior to this latest build, the last major update forDying Light 2, Update 1.17, was released in late June.

Dying Light 2is the sequel to Techland’s popular survival horror experience from 2015, and it is considered by some to be one of thebest open-world zombie gamesever made. Since its February 2022 release,Dying Light 2has received a steady stream of updates and patches, as well as a story DLC in the form ofBloody Ties. A new update has recently been pushed out for the game that brings plenty of improvements to the title.

The 1.18 update forDying Light 2, which went live on August 20, fixed a long list of bugs, including one that restricted players from connecting to others in Quick Join. It also addressed an issue that prevented people from being able to finish some quests under certain conditions in cooperative play. The latter problem sometimes manifested duringDying Light 2’s late-game Epilogue arc, according to the patch notes. Techland said that some of the changes implemented in the latest update were community-driven, such as the move to make gear pieces aside from Premium items droppable. The studio also told fans that it was hard at work on developing the Tower Raid mode forDying Light 2which is currently in beta.

Update 1.18 dropped right as Techland announced a new standalone game titledDying Light: The Beastat Gamescom 2024.The Beastwill mark the return ofDying Lightprotagonist Kyle Crane, and will be offered to owners of the Ultimate Edition ofDying Light 2at no extra cost when it becomes available.

A release date for this self-contained zombie apocalypse experience has yet to be announced, but Techland revealed that it was approaching the end of development forThe Beastand would share launch details as soon as possible. While the studio noted that it currently has no plans for any new DLC, it assured fans that it was committed to providing updates forDying Light 2in the five years following the game’s launch.

At the start of 2023, Techland revealed that theDying Lightseries had already sold 30 million copiesworldwide.Dying Light 2’s predecessor enjoyed a massive player count spike in May thanks to a generous 85% discount that dropped the game’s price to just $2.99.
