Summary

Many fans were ecstatic when they discoveredElden Ring’s latest patch had implemented a dark version of the Bandai Namco logo during the game’s startup sequence. The recent Patch 1.12 included a variety of quality-of-life adjustments toElden Ringwhile also adding support for the upcomingShadow of the ErdtreeDLC. However, one change included in the update also targeted one of the game’s most notorious inconveniences, which has plagued FromSoftware’s open-world action RPG since its 2022 release.

WhileElden Ringis widely considered one of the best titles in modern gaming, there are some things about the beloved Soulslike that can annoy even its most devout fans. For instance, more than a few players have likely broken their controllers when facing some of the moreaggravating enemies inElden Ring, such as the pin-point accurate Giant Crayfish and the hard-hitting Lesser Runebear. Fans have also actively shared a number of bugs and exploits through screenshots and clips, which ranged from anywhere between hilarious to utterly game-breaking.

However, one such notorious annoyance forElden Ringhas now been patchedwith version 1.12. Reddit user DeathvRaider shared a picture celebrating the new startup sequence for the game to the r/Eldenring subreddit. Notably, the new logo for Bandai Namco has been changed to a darker color pattern compared to previous patches. The last version of the logo was something of an infamous real-life hazard to players. Users often complained that the bright white background of the previous version of the Bandai Namco image would hurt their eyes whenever they booted upElden Ringfor a late-night session, leading to fans colloquially dubbing that specific part of the startup sequence as “the flashbang.”

Elden Ring Startup Sequence Change

The new Bandai Namco logo was likely a welcome relief to players, many of whom jokingly referred to it as the single most impactful quality-of-life change within the entire patch. However, several users also noted that while the flashbang could no longer be found in the startup sequence, it still lived on with the final boss. This was a reference tothe fight with Radagon of the Golden Orderat the end of the base game and the notorious blinding light that filled the player’s screen after they passed through the fog wall leading to his arena.

The new logo for Bandai Namco isn’t the only cause for celebration forElden Ringfans. The first and last DLC for FromSoftware’s critically acclaimed Soulslike is already out for PC and will be followed by a console release soon after. With a new area to explore and unique enemies to overcome, director Hidetaka Miyazaki assured fans thatShadow of the Erdtreewill challengeeven the most experienced players and push them to their absolute limit.
