Reddit user JKapp5 can attest to that fact, having recently found themselves dying to Rykard while the boss had but a sliver of health remaining. Resigned to their fate of getting eaten by the giant serpent, the player at least opted to immortalize their attempt with a screenshot. The image turned out amazingly, showing the Tarnished just a moment before being swallowed by thisoptionalElden Ringboss.
The epic screenshot quickly emerged on the front page of the game’s largest subreddit, eliciting praise from manyElden Ringplayers. And while some fans applauded the image’s composition, others used it as an opportunity to lament the game’s lack of a built-in photo mode. Given howElden Ringis filled to the brim with beautiful vistas and menacing boss arenas, many people apparently still aren’t over the fact that capturing such scenery is more difficult than it could have been had FromSoftware opted to bestow a photo mode upon its 2022 title.
While the Japanese developer has yet to give any indication that it is considering adding a photo mode to its future games, the calls for the studio to do so have been intensifying in recent years, especially afterElden Ringpropelled Soulsborne titles to unprecedented heights of popularity. In the meantime, one enthusiast managed to develop anElden Ringphoto mode mod, which was released shortly following the game’s early 2022 debut.
As for the fight against Rykard, players wanting to minimize the chances of getting eaten by him are strongly advised to make use of theSerpent-Huntergreat spear that deals bonus damage to the boss. The weapon is located at the very start of Rykard’s arena, meaning it’s possible to pick it up and upgrade it before initiating the boss fight.
