The first season of the show introduced new, unfamiliar viewers to the Straw Hats and their introductory arcs, then followed their adventures all the way to Arlong Park.In anticipation of Season 2of Netflix’sOne Piece, fans familiar with the show’s other adapttions are wondering about which arcs will feature in the next installment of the live-action pirate saga. Here are five events that could potentially take place inOnce PieceSeason 2.

The back of Smoker teased in Netflix’s One Piece

5Smoker Will Confront The Straw Hats

The Marine Smoke Man

Perceptive fans of the manga and anime will have recognized the Easter Egg shown at the end of the live action series’ first season. What was shown was the back of a white-haired man who smoked a cigar. The man sat behind a desk, where a bounty poster of Luffy was positioned, a bounty poster which he used his cigar to burn the eye out of. AnyOne Piecefan will be able to tell new fans who that was. It wasSmoker,a Marine manwho acts as one of the most memorable villains or adversaries in the early days ofOne Piece’sstory. Based on the arcs of the manga and anime the series went through in Season 1, it will be no surprise if fans are treated to an introduction of Smoker early in Season 2.

Like Luffy, Smoker is a Devil Fruit user. He ate theMoku Moku no Mi, also known as the Smoke-Smoke Fruit, which turned him into a Smoke Man. With his abilities, Smoker can transform into the living embodiment of smoke. As choking as it is intangible, its an ability that is certain to give Luffy and the gang many problems in Season 2. Fans should expect to see the honorable yet harsh smoke man very soon.

One Piece Reverse Mountain Anime

Type Of Event: New Arc

Characters Involved: The Straw Hats, Laboon

One of the shortest but nonetheless memorable arcs inOne Piecethat is bound to show up in some form in Season 2 is the Reverse Mountain Arc. Hints of this arc potentially coming up were planted near the end of the first season, where Nami comments on the strangeness of their path to the Grand Line, and how she is unsure of how they are to navigate their way towards and into it. This is because of the strangeness of the Reverse Mountain itself, as a pirate crew must ‘scale the rapids’ of its vertical waters in order to enterthe Grand Line. This arc is very important to the story ofOne Piece, but not just because it is the start of the crew’s Grand Line adventure.

Depending on how they choose to transform the arc into live-action, viewers could potentially see the introduction to a character who is of great importance later in the story too; Laboon the Whale, whose importance to the arc is so great that sometimes Reverse Mountain is referred to as ‘The Laboon Arc’. Laboon could make an appearance early in Season 2. If so, fans are in for a heartwarming tale of found families and lost friends.

3Luffy And Zoro’s Whisky Peak Fight

Misunderstandings Make Battles

Whisky Peak is another arc we may see in Season 2, taking place directly after the Reverse Mountain Arc. In this arc, the Straw Hats have improved their navigation capabilities and arrive at a town that seems too good to be true. A town that, unlike many others, does not fear and fret at the thought of pirates, welcomes them in, and treats them as if they are the greatest of celebrities around, and worthy of adoration.

During this arc, we see one of the first instances of conflict between two members of the Straw Hat pirates. The fight takes a humorous tone though, at least much more so than most other arcs that include fights between Straw Hats. During Whisky Peak, the Straw Hats are involved in a large party with much food and drink, which they enjoy to their hearts' content. Then they rest afterward. Areas of the town soon become swarmed with bounty hunters, unbeknownst to quite a few. Zoro, however, finds out and engages in battle with them. Using his swordsman skills, he effortlessly dispatches every single one of these men, another easy victory in battle for theworld’s greatest swordsman. In a funny misunderstanding, Luffy finds these defeated men and thinks that Zoro attacked the good people who celebrated and fed them. Eventually, this misunderstanding is settled, but it still remains one of the most interesting small-scale events to occur in the arc.

2The Straw Hats Will Visit Drum Island

Home Of The Cotton Candy Lover

Tony Tony Chopper is the sixth member of the Straw Hats and the first non-human character to join the crew. If Season 2 covers enough ground, viewers are likely to see the cotton-candy lover once the Straw Hats reach the snowy winter island. The blue-nosed reindeer has a backstory that would thaw even the iciest of hearts, and it’s wholesome enough to be appreciated by even the most stern of viewers. In the manga and anime, Nami falls ill, making the Straw Hats in desperate needof a doctor. They end up finding multiple doctors to help them as Nami’s health continues to fail her. The shy, childish, yet kind-hearted Tony Tony Chopper ends up being one of them.

When he joins the crew, Chopper becomes just the second member of the Straw Hats to be aDevil Fruit user. Once a normal reindeer, Chopper ate the Hito Hito no Mi, also known as the Human-Human fruit, which turned him into a reindeer-human hybrid. That, as well as the many other forms he can transform into for combat, along with his doctor skills, make Chopper a valuable member of the Straw Hat crew that fans should hope to see in Season 2.

Alabasta Finale Straw Hats showing solidarity

Type Of Event: Arc Introduction

Characters Involved: Princess Vivi, Crocodile

This one is less likely than the others, depending on how much of the story is covered in Season 2, but of all the big events that could potentially take place in Season 2, this is the most interesting one on this list. Arabasta, the desert saga, is often placed in many fans' top ten lists when asked to rank the bestOne Piecearcs. The iconic image of the Straw Hats all raising their hands and showing their marks of friendship originates from this great storyline.

The Arabasta Arc has a lot to look forward to: A look at the backstory of the beloved Princess Nefertari Vivi, the deep lore behind the kingdom of Arabasta, the dangers of the desert and how quick bonds can break under the desperation of scorching heat, an in-depth look at criminal organizations that will destroy the lands of royalty if unopposed, and an introduction for one of thebest villains in the series- Crocodile, wielder of the Sand-Sand Fruit.

If Season 2 moves through the arcs at a quick pace while maintaining high-quality storytelling, similar to how Season 1 did, then fans will be treated to this brilliant arc in all its glory. At the very least, it is likely the seeds of this arc will be planted in Season 2 with hints and foreshadowing of the greatness that is to come.
