13Leather Suit
X-Men (2000)’s First Suit With An All-Black Color Scheme
The first Wolverine suit seen inX-Men(2000) is one that seems to be embarrassed by the comic books that the X-Men originated from. The suit shown is all leather like Wolverine’s set out for a safe bike ride on the highway. This 2000s look was clearly to try and avoid the campy and bright colors of the comics, but it’s so monotone that it just screams boring and safe when compared to later entries.
The only thing that makes Wolverine’s leather suit somewhat redeemable is the subtle attempt to bring some patterns of his comic costume in, with sharp lines running across the torso and a yellow color scheme to show his roots.
12Age of Apocalypse
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)’s Homage to the 90s
During Deadpool’s montage of finding differentWolverines across the Multiverse, he stumbles upon one Wolverine that’s larger than Hugh Jackman. This hulking Wolverine has a wild mullet that can only be seen in the 90s, as well as just one hand. This suit is taken directly from the Age of Apocalypse comics, but it’s rather lucky that Deadpool skipped out on a team-up.
The Wolverine suit works for Age of Apocalypse, and Hugh Jackman with that lion’s mane hairdo is certainly fun, but it’s not a costume befitting of a main Wolverine. Whilst a fun cameo, the suit looks more like a macho wrestler that can stay in its own Multiverse.
11Leather Suit 2.0
X2 (2003)’s All-New Leather
By the timeX2hit theaters,the X-Men would be given new costumes, with subtle differences between them to showcase their powers. Wolverine’s suit inX2is provided with an X outline across his chest, as well as more of a deeper influence of yellow for his costume’s roots.
Whilst it’s still an all-leather biker suit, it did take inspiration from Grant Morrison’s 2001 run with theAll-New X-Men, so it has a certain edge to it that the other leather costumes managed to lack.
10Brown Leather Jacket and Jeans
X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)’s Ode to the 70s
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine seems to be a style icon in every decade, as his main costume in the 70s forDays of Future Pastfeatures a brown leather jacket, the classic denim jeans he loves to wear, and a plaid shirt. Whilst not necessarily a costume, it is what he sports for the entire movie.
Wolverine looks great in casual clothes, and whilst it’s no mustard superhero suit, it’s still one that makes Logan blend in with the environment and time of the 70s and fits the story thatDays of Future Pastis trying to tell.

Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)’s Sharp White Tuxedo
Another variant of the Wolverinesacross the Multiversethat Deadpool encounters goes by Patch, and it’s just Hugh Jackman cleaned up a bit as he sits at a casino table sporting a white tuxedo and an eyepatch. It’s a famous look from the comics, and it’s one that looks great with Hugh Jackman behind the eyepatch.
This classic suit is Wolverine’s alter-ego, and it’s always nice to see the animalistic Wolverine play nice by dressing up smart, it’s just a shame Patch didn’t see more screen time, as that white tuxedo was made to be stained in blood.
8Grizzled Black Suit
Logan (2017)’s Chauffeur Attire
In order to save up enough money to purchase a boat and spend the rest of his days on the ocean, Logan does away with the cool leather suits of old and embraces a simpler and cleaner look. Logan wears a chauffeur’s jacket and a smart shirt, and the look works for an older and more grizzled Wolverine who’s almost at the end of the road.
Fighting in the dirt and dust makes the suit appear more rugged as dust and blood stains across it, showing the wear and tear of this more fragile and tired Wolverine in action. The black suit might not have a cowl, but it’s one of Logan’s more serious looks.
7Black Coat and Tie
The Wolverine (2013)’s Funeral Attire
A more underrated outfit for Wolverine outside of his comic costumes is the time he wore an all-black suit with a draping overcoat. Whilst the black clashes with thered blood that inevitably spills, it still works as Wolverine works his way through the dangerous criminals of Japan, slashing at them with his adamantium claws.
The all-black suit and tie look is great in action, and seeing the coat drape in the wind as Wolverine runs for his targets is like an angel of death, and rather reminiscent of John Wick’s Baba Yaga attire that strikes a deadly cord.
6Dark Future Suit
X-Men: Days of Future Past (2015)’s Sentinel Fighter
Appearing for the first time in years with an actual costume, Wolverine walks into the frame in a dark future, lighting a cigar and proving why he’s the best there is at what he does. Wolverine’s comic-like suit inDays of Future Pastisn’t exactly the yellow and blue cowled look, but it’s still got homages to it with the blue and yellow undertones beneath the chest plate.
Wolverine’s suit works for the context of the movie, as he and the surviving Mutants are hunted by murderous and evolving Sentinels, so he’s going to need a suit that benefits him with armor plating to protect his adamantium skeleton and flexible attire on the arms to give him full range of motion when clawing and stabbing.
5Tank Top and Jeans
Wolverine’s Favorite Attire For Any Day Across Any Movie
If Wolverine is featured in a Marvel, it’s best believed that he’s going to rock up in a tank top and a set of denim jeans. This is Wolverine’s more casual look across almost every movie he features in, and it actually works, just not as a costume. It’s good to see Wolverine walking casually without spandex every now and then, but this look is too casual for an actual superhero.
Wolverine’s tank top and jeans do a great job of showing off his impressive physique, and there’s nothing scarier than a screaming man with metal claws chasing through the woods with his white tank top stained in sweat and blood.
4Brown Stripes Leather Jacket and Jeans
Wolverine’s Favorite Leather Jacket in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)
Outside of the leather suits, Wolverine’s most iconic look still incorporated the leather but acted more as a casual everyday look than a superhero suit. Wolverine’s leather jacketfits him like a glove, and the yellow lines on the sleeves help to make it somewhat homage to his costume colors in the comics.
The buttoned shirt, the denim jeans, and the dusty brown leather jacket all work great together to bring about one of Logan’s most classic and casual looks to screen. It’s no cowl, but it definitely fits the character well.
