Summary
AFallout 4player has discovered a message in a bottle at The Castle after hundreds of accumulative hours of gameplay. Bethesda hid many small details in the open-world Boston ofFallout 4and some players continue to make discoveries to this day.
Fallout 4was released with many similarities to its predecessors, while things like dialogue, the perk tree, and the combat mechanics received significant changes. Settlements were a major addition toFallout 4and the system allowed players to create custom bases in select locations. Players have used the spots to create a theater in Vault 88,Diagon Alley fromHarry Potter, a Dollar General, and more. One popular Settlement is The Castle, formerly Fort Independence, and it’s located on South Boston’s coast and east of South Boston High School. One gamer has found a strange item on the beach near The Castle after hundreds of hours of gameplay.
Reddit user MembershipSolid7151 recently shared aFallout 4clip of an interesting discovery they made near The Castle. The video begins with the player clearing rocks from the beach near The Castle and receiving Concrete for scrapping them. Concrete can create numerousFallout 4Settlementstructures like walls, floors, stairs, and guard posts. After scrapping five rocks, the player comes across a Bottle Message called “Predator Becomes Prey,” which they close the Settlement menu to interact with. The gamer then reads the message in the bottle to reveal a clue that leads to treasure. While the message doesn’t directly point to any specific location, some players have deciphered the message to locate some free loot.
This Fallout 4 Note Leads to Treasure
While this Bottled Message is found near The Castle, the clue leads to a submerged boat off the coast of Spectacle Island. Once the note is read, players will receive a quest marker in the area of a small loot cache which can contain ammunition, caps, and more.Fallout 4’s open-world Bostonhas six bottle messages hidden in select locations like the Lighthouse near the Wreck of the FMS Northern Star, Boston Airport’s peninsula on the beach facing Fort Strong, and Spectacle Island near a boulder at the southern tip. If completed in the right order, these messages lead from one to the other, making it easier to do in one treasure hunt. As this treasure is found underwater, gamers may want to equip the Rescue Diver Suit or use the Aquaboy/Aquagirl perk.
As the clip concludes before the gamer collects their prize, it’s unclear if they stepped away from Settlement customizing to locate it. With six Bottled Messages hidden around Boston, this one may not be the first that players encounter. AsBethesda is working onFallout 5, Bottled Messages may return in the next installment.
