AnotherDestiny 2raid is in development and was “looking really good” up until recently, a former Bungie staffer has said. The developer shared this revelation while reflecting on her time at theDestiny 2maker, which was recently cut short.
On July 31,Bungie announced that it’s laying off 220 employees, on top of transferring a portion of its staffers to different studios under the PlayStation umbrella. The layoffs alone will cull the company’s workforce by approximately 17%.
Former Destiny 2 Tester Teases the Game’s Next Raid
One of the many staffers affected by the cuts is Diana Madeline Voyer, who was part of Bungie’sDestiny 2testing team. Taking to Twitter in late July, Voyer revealed she wasn’t even aware that newlayoffs at Bungie were in the worksuntil a friend messaged her the company tweet announcing them and inquired whether she was affected. As it turns out, she was. Voyer expressed her disappointment with this turn of events on social media, which prompted some inquiries fromDestiny 2fans about the current state of the game’s development. While the former tester said she wouldn’t break her NDA by revealing any concrete details, she said that the shooter’s “next raid was looking really good.”
Those who primarilyplayDestiny 2for its raid and dungeon contenthence shouldn’t give up on the game, Voyer opined. Aside from sharing this raid teaser, the former Bungie developer also said she’ll most likely be playing the next dungeon on day one, underscoring how excited she feels about it.
She did not, however, clarify whether her “next raid” remark was a reference to a brand-new piece of content or a reprisal. Bungie’sDestiny 2roadmap has historically alternated between raids, dungeons, reprisal, and more dungeons, in that order. The one new raid that was confirmed forThe Final Shapeexpansion was already released on June 7 in the form of Salvation’s Edge. Bungie has yet to officially confirm that more raids are in the works for the game. Its hit live-service shooter is still expected to receive two dungeons as part ofThe Final Shaperoadmap.
Destiny 2recently ditched its seasonal structurein favor of episodic content. Rather than releasing four seasons a year, Bungie is now committed to doing a trio of three-act episodes annually. The acts themselves are on a six-week release schedule. The second act of Episode Echoes debuted on July 16, with its follow-up being set to launch on August 27.
