Players who want to unlock every item available in theFortniteCursed Sails Pass will have to complete as many Pirate Code Quests as they can before theend of thePirates of the Caribbeanevent. The sixth stage of the Pirate Code Quests requires players to defeat a dueling character on the Battle Royale island using a pistol or a melee weapon.
There’s no doubt that this quest has specific requirements that make it much harder to complete, but this guide will tell players what they need to know in order to finish it in no time.
Melee Weapons and Pistols Available in Chapter 5 Season 3
This Pirate Code Quest requires players to defeat an enemy using a melee weapon or pistol. There are a few weapons that qualify for each category, so gamers aren’t as limited as it may seem.
There are two melee weapons inFortniteChapter 5 Season 3: the Nitro Fists and the player’s pickaxe. The Nitro Fists can be found as floor loot or inside chests. Alternatively, players can eliminate Megalo Don and take his Mythic Nitro Fists. Players can also simply unequip their currently held item and switch to the pickaxe, and any blow will count as a melee attack.
In the currentFortniteweapon pool, there are three pistols that gamers can use for this quest: the Hand Cannon, the Flint-Knock Pistol, and the Ranger Pistol. All of these weapons are fairly common and can be found in different rarities as regular floor loot or inside chest containers.

There are 24NPCs on theFortnitemap, butgamers can only duel two of them. Even if players weren’t completing the Pirate Code Quests, these NPCs are worth tracking down and fighting just for their unique, high-rarity loot. Here are the characters gamers can duel inFortniteand where to find them:

To start a duel inFortnite, go up to the NPC, talk to them, and select the Duel option to challenge them.
How to Defeat a Dueling Character With a Pistol or Melee Weapon
To complete the quest that requires players to defeat a duel character inFortnite, they only need to use the melee weapon or pistol to strike the final blow or shot. This means gamers can use any weapon of their choice and then switch to a melee or pistol once their opponent’s health bar is nearly gone.
Both Cerberus and Oscar carry shotguns so keeping a long to medium range is the best way to avoid their attacks. Players can keep their distance while shooting from afar with an Assault Rifle or a Sniper and then come in closer with the Ranger Pistol, the Flint-Knock Pistol, the pickaxe, or the Nitro Fists once they’re nearly defeated. Alternatively, fans can still maintain distance and switch to the Hand Cannon, which does impressive damage from afar.
If players are able tosecure a Mythic Hand Cannon, this will make their task even easier; a simple body shot can deal 103 damage and a headshot deals185 damage.
